Fan DLC Proposal: Cote D'Azur, Marseille, Monte Carlo

I do understand it is not likely but that shouldn't be a roadblock from discussing it or fleshing it out. There is no real reason why it shouldn't happen, and I havent heard any downside other than people saying (in a nutshell) "I dont want to play in France" and "Never going to happen."

If you look at the core principles i've laid out you have a fantastic GTAO expansion here

I just don't want to hear French accents. Give them the best American accent (New York: Brooklyn, especially) and we've got a deal.

I understand, but that seems like a pretty silly reason to be against it.

And (for Niko) I dont think Marseille or Monte Carlo have a particular renaissance feel to them its not like we are talking about GTA Chateau de Versailles or something here

IMO for the perfect GTA:O you should have a HUGE/MASSIVE map like WoW or other MMORPG's do have. With various locations or "countries" (really small versions of original countries, that combine the best cities of the country. For example for France you could have Paris, Monaco, Marseille based cities, etc. For USA, Miami (Vice City), LA (San Andreas/Los Santos), NYC (Liberty City) and so on.

I wouldn't mind having several drug empires running throughout several countries, having nice manors in Vice/Andreas, getaway locations in France where I could enjoy the GTA$ from my criminal activities like a real kingpin.

I wouldn't mind paying $60 for that type of game and $15 for a monthly fee if that was the case. Sadly it will never happen. lol

Don't say it would never happen.

You are pretty much just saying that it is a good idea that you like but it will never happen so it isn't worth talking about?

Rockstar *should* be coming up with ideas like this instead of recycling the same locations over and over again ad nauseum.

Once they redo Vice City again they will have run out of ideas.

I AM SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO, BUT MY WEBCAM IS ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.

A whole new city?

That's not DLC, that's a new game.

If it was that easy to create a new map, it's a good idea, but really for a lot less effort they could do other things that are just as fun - hence more likely.

Something like a Euro Car Pack or similar could be done though - although it already has a few hatchbacks already.

I would agree with you if this was GTAIV, or just GTAV singleplayer, but Rockstar have stated over and over again that they plan to continually update this with new content for a long time to come.

Its just a new map, not a new game.

They'll probably just launch a whole different universe again lol once the HD is finished. If not they'll just re-use the same sh*t or use other similar locations like Chicago, or hell even go back to the roots and do a London based GTA.

I wonder if they'd ever do a GTA: Noir series. A free roam, 1930s game set in Chicago or New York.

sounds like it would be pretty fun, and the perfect place for big heists, all you would need is some playable F1 cars and it would be perfect. how awesome would it be to race around monaco in F1 cars.

That is a very interesting idea, adding actual F1 race cars and the Monte Carlo circuit to this . Thanks for chiming in with that and i'm glad you like the idea. I'll work on something more concrete about the F1 stuff but i'm not an expert on it at all!

Already about 30 games out there that let you do that :p

I'd hate it in GTA, every twit would ram you every two seconds, it's the kind of thing that's awesome in a simulator but amusing in GTA for ten minutes before you do something else.

I would like to see a Limited Slip Diff option in LSC, to keep us car nuts a bit more amused.

Why not just make your own GTA type game? You have the ideas, get a dedicated team, there are tons of people who have knowledge of coding, animations, etc on here - get an engine like Unity. Make a game. There are some decent looking GTA clones made with Unity on youtube and around the web you can use as inspiration. If you are really dedicated to this and have a reliable crew, kickstart it.

Thats how R* was born and other successful gaming companies.

Anyone can do that, tbh if you had a portfolio of those ideas, sketches etc and presented that to R* they would take you more seriously. Now it's just another one of "those" threads.

I'm afraid i'm missing your point. Are you saying that i'm not allowed to brainstorm on this forum and that I have to make sketches and a portfolio and go present it to Rockstar for this idea to be legitimate? I thought this was a forum to discuss the game and all aspects of it, including what you'd like to see added. You just joined 12 hours ago, perhaps you dont quite understand it yet.

GTA is America. There's no way around that.

I don't see why that should prevent us from brainstorming cool ideas like this. That is just a roadblock that limits intelligent discussion.

The scott creator The Benz himself has made several statements to the defense of what you call a roadblock in an intelligent discussion- its supposed to be his dark vision of an american society. Couch rotting, channel surfing, clerk shooting, street racing, hamburger eating mid to low intelect outside the law criminal 'everymen' getting by, In all honesty though I cannot attest to these evident statements I claim are real, and am unlikely to recall the exact web pages i've seen them in over the Years.

Fans/forums make these kinds of wishes and fantasies up all the time but its a Glamourously recurrent theme that essentially defines Grand theft auto from the beginning, before gta 3 to say the least; for it to leave that setting would not only be a huge change but a massive shift in direction for what the series Represents with its satirical meanings. Cool idea but in all honesty I would rather someone made a Gta Like game with the stipulations you're requesting rather than having the brand itself tarnished with out of world context with something like southern france dlc.

The current stories and fictionalized american satire parodies that gta currently consists of all exist WIthin the "american" setting, Or "universe." With each installment in the hd era, and arguably the ones prior, a richer setting is established better defining the original concept, for them to leave this setting would not only be leaving behind massive potential for narrative and societal evolution regarding the original concept but biting off The Very beginnings of another...Europe.

So it would seem almost humorously ludicrious to me that for a DLC<especially that they would one-off in Marseille,.."south of france, or Southern france?" for what would be just a moment in storytelling.

I Love the idea, not so much for gta currently, I dont see developers going for it-atleast for a Long time, BUT I also wouldn't rule it out in the slightest for future Gta titles, because the developers have mentioned dreams in creating an entire world someday for players to criminalize..what ever that entails. I'd rather see this from another game personally, and enjoy gta for what it is, a nasty surprise in american culture. Rockstars making alot of money now though,so they probably have the funds for foreign resources-locale info,.. actors of various ethnicities and descents so..I dont know!! im up for whatever they produce though.

Just saying that if you want R* to even look at the idea and maybe even, at the slightest, consider it, you have to put more effort into it rather than just create a thread saying what you would like them to do. They are one of the few companies that listen to their fans, they put bigfoot into the dlc for RDR because of the numerous myths and mods for GTA:SA that had bigfoot in them.

And tbh, I'd like R* to do more interesting easter eggs like that, there weren't enough in GTA:V, and having a few in GTA:O would make the game more fun. Like having a shark online like in single player, where you could get with friends to see who survive the longest.

lol, thats true, but i'm not into pure racing games.

and fair enough about the ramming, unless they find a way to prevent people from ramming each other in races it would get annoying, but personally i'd still think a F1 car would be awesome to cruise around it.

Renault Megane!

BMW 5 Series Hatchback

original.jpg

I could see a bunch of these!!

And this isn't even mentioning the supercars.

For me it's the Megane for sure, I'd LOVE that in GTAV Los Santos OR France.

5 series GT is one of the ugliest cars in history. What the f*ck BMW were thinking i will never know.

Thinking about it. If The Crew, from Ubisoft, can make the full USA (scalled down of course). Any developpers in the future could "easily" recreate the whole Europe or part of it, either Rockstar for a (far) future GTA or an other developper.

Size won't be a problem soon. And Europe has as much potential, in term of scenery, action and its roads, as USA.

Hahahaha this kids trying to say the difference between it being set in france and america is just the setting.. NO BUD, im sorry but america is filled with corruption in cops and government and LOADED with crime, especially in the big cities like new york and los angeles. Tour de france would just not work in this. There is no comparing

Europe OK, great even, but Peugeots and Renaults, no just no. The worst cars I've ever driven. The gearbox of a peugeot feels like they had a big box of gears in the factory and just threw them inside a casing, put some sticks through them and voila; We have a gearbox. It al feels so flimsy. Give me German engineering :p

Have you ever left the united states? Other countries (not saying France) have plenty (MORE) police corruption and more crime.

Try going to South America I had some guy (police) with a SMG come up and practically molest me for no reason other than I was walking in a park.

I know, so I am satisfied concerning the cars in GTA ;)

Fair enough (and I do agree about German engineering) but would it actually bother you to see a Peugeot of Renault (Look at that Megane RS!) in game? You could always just not drive it.

I AM SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO, BUT MY WEBCAM IS ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.

France seems extremely unlikely for a GTA game.

Greece and Italy though, they're ripe with the crime shtick. Also Britain might be MUCH more prominent due to the english speaking audiences of both GTA and the developers.
