Free aim or auto aim?

Which one do you use and why? If you used free aim for SP then I'm assuming you're not gonna change that for MP.

Auto aim. Sorry if that makes me "not as good" or whatever but it's what I like the best and always have. Not just in gta series but any game that has aim assist or auto lock. BUT in gtav and IV you can auto aim but move it up or down or let for right. I always go for the head shot

I use free aim in any game I play, for the simple fact that it is 100% more immersive and I get the best experience possible. I like to feel as I am part of the game, not like I am watching a movie.

Free aim, thanks to checkpoints and the half regenerating health, I used auto aim in GTA IV as there is no health regenerations or checkpoints, meaning death can lead to frustrations because I new I would have to do a long boring drive or stalk over and over. The shooting felt perfect in GTA V, and one of the many reasons for this is the free aim.

I used traditional gta for singleplayer as I didnt know how to change it and I had always used that in the past. I have used auto aim up until rank 60 online then decided to switch to free aim and its definitely more satisfying and no where near as hard as i thought it would be, after a couple of days I'm shooting like a pro. I was hoping mission lobbys would be less nooby but I still get players that think they can barge a truck out of the way with a titan and expect it to fly afterwards.

In GTA V and in Max Payne 3 I opted for free aim because I find it to be more fun. I think soft lock is slightly more realistic though due to hand eye coordination.

 

I think the most realistic solution would be a middle ground. Pull the left trigger and the reticle centres on the target. Initially the reticle would have a fairly large circumference (think COD's reticle when you're running) but would reduce in size. How quickly it reduces in size would depend on your character's shooting skill.

 

You could pull the left trigger to raise your weapon and instantly start firing but your chances of missing would be relatively high. Maxing your character's shooting ability would effectivle give you autoaim.
