replaying story..

I beat the story mode a couple of weeks ago and am looking to restart the game. I've been hearing numerous reports of people not being able to beat it due to the online update glitch. Fortunately I did not have this problem. Even though this didn't happen to me, I am a little worried that if I replay the game, it may. Is there any precautions I should take before restarting?
