I use camo pants, tan boots, and a tan t-shirt. You're out of uniform, but it's close enough, especially considering that all of the camo gear uses the old school BDU pattern, instead of the ACU pattern.

 

 

The sad truth is that both the woodland and desert BDU's are still more effective than the US Army ACU's(for those of you who don't know, the Army thought that ACU could be an"all terrain" camo, thus getting rid of desert specific and woodland specific camo)

This is my interpretation of what a special op/ private militia/ mercenary might look like. Below the belt I have the black camo pants with black boots. Tucked in Black shirt and standard armour to maintain the overall "special op" aspect of it. The beard, well I just think the beard looks straight up badass in combo with my outfit. I also drive a MerryWeather jeep now and I must say some people thought I modded to look like a merc a few times.

Unless you happen to be the Secretary of the Army, your opinion on the merits of digital camo.is irrelevant. It is what it is, and as of 2013, an "authentic" soldier uniform would have to use digital camo.

You don't have to be the Secretary of the Army to see that ACU is terrible(in terms that they thought it'd be an all-terrain camo).

 

Plus, I was just stating my opinion on the Army ACU's. I love the Marine Corps woodland and desert MARPAT - tests have proven that the USMC MARPAT patterns(and colors) are among the best in 20+ terrains compared to other camos(including other countries' camos) ACU didn't rank very high in any of the terrain tests.

 

And "authentic" varies person to person. The Brits don't use digital, authentic to them would be DPM patterns, or multicam.

 

"Authentic soldier uniforms" aren't just limited to ACU and MARPAT/digital camos.

IMO, you can get your online character to look like a soldier, but not a modern soldier, more like a poor, ragtag military soldier. Modern military don't war soft armor. Modern police/state troopers wear soft armor, and even then, it isn't exposed like it is in GTA, police wear it under their uniform 90%(on patrol, etc) of the time. That other %10 is DEA or something doing a drug bust, Stop teams, etc.
