It's definitely random from my experience, fly away from the base so everything despawns and then try again. I tried to grab the jet from my easy access hanger spot and had about 3 tanks waiting for me outside the bay! Even when I bust through the gate, theres a tank with its turret pointed straight at me at the damn start. NickStone Posted March 16, 2014 Share Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) For me as well, tanks now stop spawning when I enter Fort Zancudo, both inside and outside of missions. This probably happened right after the release of the current or previous title update (v1.10 or v1.11) On one hand, you're stuck having to buy one if you want to cause (minimal) "random chaos" (blow up anything that moves, cuz we all turn into urban terrorists soon as the game loads), but on the other hand, tanks didn't take much damage it seemed (I could even blow myself up in one hit if the target is too close), and it makes it much easier to steal other military hardware from the base, or just use it as a random chaos playground I would wager that R* took the tanks out cuz it was just plain ridiculous how long we lasted trying to drive in or fly out of the base. My average survival time in a vehicle is about 10 seconds from security gate to death. Afterthought: It might be possible that a tank will spawn parked, probably hidden away somewhere. For those able, I recommend starting Trevor's first Cletus stranger mission, to explore the base unhindered. LightningLord Posted March 17, 2014 Share Posted March 17, 2014 Whenever I want the Lazer Jet in online there's usually at least one tank. Not in the same place. One time it's near the hanger.
