Hum-Vee
are they like gta3's and what does trails do?
TheApoc
They're better, a lot more, cooler effects with lighting and surfaces. Detail is astounding. More polygons, farther distances. Vice is bright compary to the grimy Liberty. Trails adds special code to make sunsets and sun effects look cool (enhanced lighting and glory... during the day you can see the heat) and there's a little bit of bluriness to give a better feel of smoothness. I think the graphics are much better than GTA3 and I liked GTA3's graphics (esp. on PC, those rocked when turned up with a GeForce Ti 4200 or higher). fbg111
They're fine. Slightly improved from GTA3, but not significantly. Buy it b/c it's an awesome, twisted, funny game, not for the gfx. If you want good gfx, buy an Xbox.
GTA4Life
The detail of the city is much improved over GTAIII by a long shot. GTAIII was filled with simple square buildings and straight roads while GTA: Vice City is loaded to the gill with highly detailed buildings, ghetto neighborhoods, rich neighborhoods, urban neighborhoods, etc. It always suprises me each time I enter a new section of Vice City because its so different then what was thrown at me before. The lighting effects are MUCH improved over GTAIII. Now the sun reflects off of cars, the sun reflects off the water, water is now transparent and much better looking then in GTAIII. The entire look of the city changes during night time as the neon glow of buildings reflects off of your car and even street lights do so. I have an S-Video cable and now I can play this game with the Trails turned on and it looks alot different then what it does with them turned off. The characters are also better looking in this game. The variety in civilians has tripled I would say. Every single area you go to will show off different styles of civilians depending on what area you are currently in. And to top it all off the slowdown in this game is handled much better. There have only been a few occassions when the screen just had too much action for the PS2 to handle and it slowed down. But even that might last about 3 seconds before everything is back to normal.
curtisimo
get in a helicopter and fly over diaz's island as the sun sets, you cant tell me that isnt awsome. another aspect that i feel is greatly improved is the physics. the cars respond very naturally and the bikes handle realisticly. there is also a greater variety of actions and movements, weapons, missions, etc. there a some people that say the VC isnt what it was hyped up to be, but i think the R* hit a homer with this one. lets hope they continue the series.
