The fact that we can't burglarize/invade those mansions is the big

The fact that we can't burglarize/invade those mansions is the biggest tease

Anyone else salivate every time you drive around those mansions/big houses? I don't know anything about programming so I won't rant with obscenities as to how we should be able to do this when we did in San Andreas, but man it's such a damn tease. Or how there is nobody in the bank to rob.

My boy thinks(or should I say prays every night) that R* will release that as a DLC. I highly doubt it. What we have is what we will get.

Guess we'll have to hope GTA VI will have it. :-/

As a matter of fact, WHY can't we do this again? Lack of programming abilities?

It would be really nice to be able to buy/forcibly-take the mansions. Last night I did one of the GTAO missions "Richmond Rich" for Simeon and thought to myself "this would make a pretty awesome Crew House".

I was thinking about that after seeing this post, and while a burglary activity for these luxury homes would have been great, I can see why Rockstar did not include it.

It just would not make sense that Michael Trevor and Franklin would want to burgle rich homes for cash, when they are involved in very sophisticated and well-planned major heist that nets them millions of dollars. Burglaries would be very petty and beneath them once they start earning huge amounts of money from heists.

To be fair, there's not much "crime" to do in this crime sim outside of the missions. There's no burglaries, turf/drug wars, additional heists, just some lousy, worthless stick ups.

It's weird that we can stick up places for very little cash but can't go burglarize a house. Honestly there's a lot they could have done with this game that they didn't, for who knows what reason. If they did only spend 2 1/2 or 3 years working on it, I kinda wish they would have delayed it for another two years and just brought out another handheld GTA. Maybe the time was ripe for San Andreas Stories?

You're right I missed that. We can stick up convenience stores but not burgle rich homes. Yeah OP, you have a point. And there definitely should have been more criminal activities to do outside of the main storyline missions.

Shouldn't you be working on R*'s next big product? You know getting your marketing strategies ready or something? Go on now, boy...get back to work!

What it really boils down to is the complete lack of interiors. No interiors, very few possibilities of crime diversity.

I was expecting after IV that the next step for R* was to keep a similar large open world but add more interiors to do more stuff. I was wrong I guess.

We were comparing Skyrim and GTA in the other thread. Imagine Skyrim without all the dungeons and interiors. Yeah, a lot less appealing. GTA would be much more with interiors: banks, mansions, malls, casinos, etc.

They think the fun factor of GTA is now to play Tennis or Golf or even f*ckin yoga. Yeah, that's much much better than organizing a real drug and guns empire with Trevor or doing gang hits with Franklin, hijacking the Ballas and Vagos operations and taking control of the hood. Why would I want gambling when I can play Darts. Hooray !

Edit: Im actually sad right now. 10 years ago, when I was playing San Andreas, my vision of what GTA would be like today was soooooo different than what we have now. I thought they would be expanding every crime activities we had like, for example, control to the finest details your own drugs and guns empire. Choose to buy and sell coke, meth, heroin. Does it arrive on a boat at the port or in a plane at the airport. Or on a train even. Get to know when your rivals do their operations and where so you can hijack them and take the profit. Own a casino. Do terrorist attacks. Do assassinations ( hitman style ).

Instead, we can play golf, do triathlons, play tennis, play darts ( f*ck me ), do yoga. I mean ... yoga ? Yoga ?! If you had told me this 10 years ago, I would have pissed my pants. The only ''crime'' related activities you can do outside of the main storyline, are the Strangers & Freaks missions but they are limited.

It's like a utter waste of potential. GTA is a series that could go so far because it literally has no bounderies. It could go anywhere. Yet, I feel like it's on a leash, like Rockstar is shoving it inside a nice little box and say '' This is what GTA is all about, f*ck you. ''

Burgling houses, as someone already said, doesn't fit the story. It would work in Online but then people would whine about 'removing features from single player to make people play online'.

It would make the stealth stat useful too..

Yup. I'd really like to see some of the brainstoarming sessions they have over there. So many cool crime possibilities, and they give us yoga.

It was done pretty poorly in SA, and while it would be cool it still falls under the 'little details' category. I'd much rather we get the choice of how far in or out of the gang life Franklin goes.

The notion that he just moves a few miles to Vinewood and it's all good is weird.

I agree with the Trevor part, but Franklin? Did you pay any attention to his story? He wants out of the gang sh*t, its pretty much his whole motivation. Hell, if they'd given me the choice I'd have had Franklin leave Lamar to

die at the sawmill

.

Getting called to go bowling might have been a pain in IV but it was nothing compared to being dragged halfway across LS to waste ammo and body armour on another pointless turf war in SA.

They should bring back pimping though...just because I enjoyed it even though it doesn't really fit the characters. It could be in online. We could steal ho's from other players...(wow that's really easy if you don't worry about internal consistency).

Exactly. I love how some people on this forum say it is clearly depicted in the storyline, that Franklin does not want to be associated with the Families. Thus, why you can't do drug/gang wars against the Ballas and reclaim Grove St, etc. However, if Rockstar intended Franklin to be this way, why do they let us get so many tattoos showing CGF. Why can I get a '' FAMILLIES '' on his chest or the Feud F's on his neck. Why can I buy so many green oriented clothes. Make up your f*ckin mind R*.

Regarding Franklin, think TBoGT with Luis and drug wars.

I agree, it was stated in the storyline that he wants to '' get outta this bullsh*t ''. But, quite frankly, I think it would have been SO MUCH better if it was the opposite. It's not like Franklin was the only character in the game, then it would have been a San Andreas rehash. But since you can switch between the three of them, it would have been great. I loved the hood missions. It reminded of the old days and I realized I hadn't grown tired of killing those purple f*cks. And if you keep in mind how profound they could have gone in the drug operations and hijacking everybody, it would have been f*cking great. At least it would have been better than '' Hold L1 and R1 to get into this Yoga position ... smile ... you're having fun. ''

Yep, it's just one of those weird inconsistencies, like CJ having this huge problem with drugs. I literally kept saying wtf everytime it got brought up.

Also, in V there are two missions Frank does that should have had IMMEDIATE and long lasting repercussions. You don't shoot your way out of Grove St, and just get left alone by rival gang bangers.

Those aren't the kind of guys to just let sh*t slide.

Sorry for the off topic.

You can sorta still wreck havoc on those mansions. Just walk around Vinewood Hills at night with Trevor or something, sneak into a backyard, take out whatever poor soul is hanging out by the pool and steal the car in the driveway, if there is one.

Just because we can't literally grab a tv inside some generic interior and run out the door doesn't mean you can't still imagine your way through some scenario.

I think it's safe to assume that 99% of the people who visit this board daily have never written a single line of code in their lives. People will never be satisfied because they have no clue of what it takes to bring them the things they love. The original Donkey Kong had at least 15-20,000 lines of code written for it back in 1981, now try to wrap your mind around how many lines GTA 5 might contain. The men and women creating your favorite games aren't a bunch of jerk offs sitting around the office laughing at message board posts. Speaking from experience, the average forum user is no different from an executive in a gaming. They suggest the most ridiculous sh*t without considering the hardware limitations and the amount of man hours its going to take to achievement what they want.

^^^Your font color+wall of text=didn't read. And I never do that, just saying.

OT: I like using my imagination as much as the next guy in any GTA, mostly because the early games forced you too. I still think that RP should only be part of the gameplay experience though.

It would make sense if Lamar had introduced it to Franklin in a misson in the beggining of the game, as a lick or so. I was expecting that.

R* should have added burglary, mini drug deals, major drug deals, shop lifting-like robbery... Hoping for all that in GTA VI

Count me in on that. Sometimes I wonder if Rockstar's staff were smoking some serious crack when they were conjuring up these ideas for GTA V. " Yeah, lets do yoga, triathlon and play tennis instead of gang wars, gang recruitment, drug-dealing, etc ".

Speaking of gambling since I believe someone mentioned, how come R didn't add that feature into the game? I spent hours upon hours gambling in RDR. It was so fun. I actually learned how to play poker. lol...

I thought they were saving those big mansions as DLC, so if you buy their DLC you could unlock a few nice, large properties, which could be purchased or whatever.

Agreed. Bigger is not always better and I'm glad they didn't add 3 cities. I would just like them to improve upon what they've had with previous features that were in the game and more interactivity with the environment. Then if there is room for things like yoga, triathlons, the stock market, etc add them in.

But Rockstar has this trend now where they are scrapping a lot of features from previous games instead of making them better. I guarantee you that the next game they will completely scrap scuba diving instead of improving it and making it more interesting.

One of the many things I love about the AC series is that, with exception of den defense in Revelations (which really had no place in the game), is that Ubisoft has been improving everything from previous games and adding new features. I respect this type of mentality.

The definitely missed the opportunity for some b&e gameplay. Then again after Red Dead I was for sure you would have been able to tie peoples hands and throw them in you vehicle/trunk.

Train tracks just don't feel as fun as they were in 1911...
