Text Messaging, Social networking or even Forums should be the last place to ever find a good friend. I don't have many friends either but those who love me are the best people to come across. When you grow up you will realize most people just use you. When you have something people want, BOOM, Mr. Popular. When you don't, Mr.Alone. I like Mr.Alone. No one to let you down. No one to take advantage of you. So, yeah. My opinion is, f*ck friends. Pretty much this. I'm terrible at socialising due to having Aspergers Syndrome but I don't really see it as a problem as I don't crave friendship. There's so much more to life. Take some time to figure out the right people around you and see the difference. Some times wrong situations do occur where we fail to read the minds but not every one out there wants to use or cheat on you. If you trust and love your family then there are people that come from families brought up with same love and affection. I've got friends and I genuinely like them, but my heart sinks a little every time they text or call me to ask me out. It's not that I have anything against them, I just much prefer my own company. There's nothing quite like the feeling of finding out that I don't have to go out anymore because others have backed out. I guess that's partly why I'm not into the MP so much. Then again, I have next to no friends online. You are an introvert, OP seems to be more of an extrovert and being around people is important for extroverts. My advice is to get "friends" who you can use up then throw them away. Do what makes you happy. If that means stealing their money, fkng their girlfriend, etc., then do it. You'll find out one day that the people who you call "friends" won't hesitate to fk you over given the chance. This is exactly how a person with anti-social personality disorder (read: psychopath/sociopath) thinks. No remorse, approaching people based on an agenda and "every man for himself" philosophy. I'm not making it up, it's exactly how it works. EIther that or you got really f*cking hurt, but one thing doesn't prevent the other, quite the opposite actually. That's terrible advise, there is nothing normal about it and no respect for you words at all.
