PS3's in DMZ, but Still Have NAT Type 3?

I've got NAT type 3 on my PS3, even though I've set up the PS3 in DMZ mode.

PS: I'm using a wifi signal with a DIR-165 router if that helps (can't use wired connection, as I do not have a long enough Ethernet cable lol haha).

Did you set a static IP for your PS3 to make sure it never changes?

Also, you might want to see if turning off your router's firewall helps.

i"m pretty sure the firewall is off, but not sure what the static IP is all about... is that what all the youtube tutorials talk about?

Ditto above.... Verify the ps3s ip address is the one in your dmz.. Check on ps3 and on router side... You may need to release the ps3's old ip address from the router... It may still be using the old ip address ... Should NOT be NAT 3 if in a DMZ.

I would turn off firewall for trouble shooting but not leave it off... Your network is very exposed if you furn off your router's firewall.

I was having the same issues with my router. You need to open your ports. I would use this guide http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DIR-130/PlayStation_Network.htm or try this youtube guide

DMZ enabled alone will not change your NAT type to more open

Yes-- you set a static IP address on the PS3-- normally IP addresses are assigned in order-- usually something like..

192.168.1.102, ..... 103, 104 etc

or could be

192.168.1.2..... .3, .4 etc

So what you want to do is set a static IP address for the PS3--- some routers allow you to do this from the router-- if not you do it from the PS3 and it will grab the ip address you specify rather then getting one of the sequential ones above...

You want to set it high enough that something else doesn't take that one... so pick on in say the 40 or 50 range.... ie 192.168.1.41 (this is an example-- your router may assign IP addresses over a different range)

Then on the router you enter the ip address you assigned to the PS3 to the DMZ-- this should "effectively" place the PS3 outside your routers firewall.

Forwarding ports is a little bit more involved and doesn't always solve problems.... it worked for me though.

@oPUreXo--- do you know if there are specific ports to forward for GTA V--- I asked a while ago but didn't get an answer.

Go onto one of your PCs and open a command prompt. Type "ipconfig /all" and hit enter. You will need the ip address, subnet mask, default gateway, and dns.

More than likely your gateway and dns will be 192.168.1.1, which is what I will set my samples as. You may have a 10.1.10.1 network.

If the IP address for the PC is like 192.168.1.13, then you want to set your PS3 higher.

Go into network setup wizard on the PS3, choose manual ip settings, put in

ip 192.168.1.99

subnet 255.255.255.0

gateway 192.168.1.1

dns 192.168.1.1

Then go into the DMZ on the router, delete out the PS3, then re add it with your new IP address.

5223,3478-3479,3658. Are the specific ports for GTAV, but they fall under the ports needed for playstation network

Thanks-- I probably have those ports forwarded already then- I will verify... I checked portforward.com a few weeks ago for GTA V but they didn't have the game even listed.

@ Ultradude-- are you sure you have the ports forwarded to the correct IP address (your consoles IP address)

Yup... Gonna try the ports the guy above you mentioned though, and see if that helps.

If this doesn't help, let me know and I'll write out a thorough explanation of everything.
