Yep. Rockstar stated that they weren't able to regain lost characters. That's why theres a stimulus package.

The only time I lost one character it wasn`t back after 3 days, at which point I rewritten her.

 

I am not 100% sure and I will not advice you to rewrite, but I think it is lost.

Hey i got the same problem too, My character shows that he is level 58,and it shows the stats but when i try to play him it takes me to character creation? I think il just wait it out since it's probably a problem with the cloud servers maybe,il give it another 3 days,and then il declare him dead.

When I lost mine, it was showing level 0, blank, no stats, but the bank was there. IF my memory serves me right.

 

She was a level 8 anyway so there wasn`t anything to be lost.

 

I wouldn`t overwrite anything I am not prepared to lose.

This f*cking sucks!

2 weeks of hard f*cking work, long nights and overslept days because I got sucked into this game.

I've lost my character during the first week of the game and I didn't even get a human response.

I've been on the phone all day today, and they didn'\t even pick up. My phone literally lost it's battery and I couldn't wait in the queue any longer, I am not f*cking kidding.

 

And now I've lost a rank 56 character which I was sure I'd never lose. And I lost it 2 days ago!!!!!
What do I get? "We don't give a f*ck and we aren't even going to try and reimburse you for 2 f*cking weeks of your time. Go to hell"

 

That is the second time. If I had a Rockstar dev in my sight right now, there would be literall blood. I am sick and tired of it. I am being tossed around, ignored and treated like trash.

I am not going to reroll. At this moment, I'd like to smash my game into million pieces, preferably on a Rockstar dev's face, but that'd be a waste of my money. I bought a PS3 just for this game and what do I get? Jesus... rarely get this angry. My stomach was hurting me all night last night. I wonder if I could sue these c*nts for all of this, because I am literally reaching my limits.

It's not about the game, it's about some c*nts wasting 2 weeks of my time and not even saying they are sorry or not giving a FLYING f*ck. That is what pisses me off. If it was any other company doing anything else I'd be just as pissed off.

If I work hard on something, (as a perfectionist) and it gets destroyed and ruined, I get really f*cking angry.

It took me all my strength to start a new character, roll it to 56, unlock car mods and a lot of other sh*t that took me 78 ingame hours, and I lose it.


Now even if I rerolled I'd have to win 40 races again, I'd have to earn 1k-3k for sh*tty missions, I'd have to unlock new weapons, I'd have to kill people again to unlock weapon colors, I'd have to live with the fact that maybe during the next patch they will f*ck THIS sh*t AGAIN and I'll lose my character, and then I'll actually buy a ticket to the nearest Rockstar building and I'll be on the f*cking news for something very, very nasty.

Characters lost due to database corruption aren't able to be restored as I believe they're corrupt on the backups too due to developer oversight when writing the save functions

did you even enjoy working to level 56? at all ? If so, you may enjoy doing it again, but if not Maybe video games just aren't for you man. You should place a little bit of blame on yourself for your loss of time and sleep. What if you developed a brain tumor from your constant jamming of the rockstar customer support line? Wouldn't that just be worth the trouble?
