Oh you'll also get a notification above your radar stating that someone placed a bounty on you with the amount, and if an NPC places a bounty on you will get a text from unknown saying you have messed with the wrong person, followed by a message from unknown saying warning you that someone placed a bounty on you a bounty on you.

I thought this worked but apparently the NPCs have family members that will call a bounty on you. The few times it worked must have been random coincidence.

Ugh you may be right. I killed this woman for her Baller last night, and got a bounty. Perhaps she was able to call in the hit while she was running down the street? It doesnt seem to happen when i first blast them through the windshield, THEN take their car.

I have gotten a bounty from a stolen car after I killed the NPC driver, could have been a weird glitch but I was surprised.

Could have been another guy's car, and the driver was just borrowing it.

Kill them when you steal the vehicle. Its pointless after the bounty is set.
