The article talks about two separate stories, the first story is about the original grand theft auto designer remaking Liberty city in 3D, it doesn't say anything about Liberty City being put in GTA online.

 

The second story is about the patch for GTA online that has been recently released.

They can easily add liberty city they won't have to do to much work... But " Vice city, San Fierrao , Las Ventura " would have to be re-invisioned since there isn't a re-invision of theses cities in the HD world.

they don't need to wait until next gen to add, those locations... you already install the game to the hard-drive.. all the mechanics are stored on the hard-drive.... its just a simple DLC package you'd have to install to put new locations and items into the game. And of course North Yankton was low Res.... because it had 1 short part in the game. Hence why i said they'd have to invision what " North Yankton " entirely would look like. Besides GTA:O on current or next gen... won't have any major difference other then maybe better Hi res artwork / better draw distance.

 

And if they did bring GTA5 to next gen your talking about 2 years from now... which R* wont because they've started they want to push GTA media thru GTA:O, hence if you read that interview.. their looking at supporting GTA:O for the next 5+ years because they are a studio who don't want to push its title's over n over every year like " Call of duty " or " Battlefield " ... which is why GTA:O has microtransactions... why do people fail to see or grasp that concept

besides... those cash cards that R* is introducing is only a start i'd assume, they'll push things such as weapons / clothing / mission packs / entire cities as dlc... if they were to sell new car packs. they'd have to be released with new city locations.

 

Patching guns / clothing / mission packs into the current world is easy. i'd expect rockstar would start with this first. 5 months from now, you'll either see Liberty City dlc.. or some sort of exstention of the current world... "more heists / missions / game mode "

 

and liberty city or any future locations wouldn't share the map along side Los Santos... it would be its entire own server map, because everything is on R*'s cloud servers, atleast the online aspect, i would never expect it to be like jumping into a frogger / Buzzard / lazer / any boat, to be able to drive / fly to Liberty City... thats just naive, much like claiming it could only be done on " Next Gen " is naive.
