GTA Online: Dead Days DLC

Warning: This will require some reading.

This is a long topic regarding an idea that's been tossed around but not seriously thought out. A zombie DLC. Before you start trolling or saying there's been enough zombie games, please take the time to read what I have come up with. Everyone is welcome to add to this with their own insight and ideas, and give their opinion on this. Keep it respectful and keep an open mind. Please stay on topic and refrain from long arguments. Take it to messages if you feel the need to argue with someone.

I know a lot of people are sick of zombies, and if that's the case then you should probably just click the back button. I want to start a well thought out idea for a zombie DLC that maybe R* can take into consideration at some point with enough attention, if we were to make a petition or something similar.

So the name I have for now is Dead Days, I'm sure someone else can think of something better. It would be a separate game mode that we could enter from free roam in GTA:O. When entering this mode for the first time, we would be taken through a quick and basic tutorial. A camera would pan us through the map and show us different areas, the city would look a bit broken down, apocalypse-like. It would explain that a zombie breakout has taken over Los Santos and that we are among some of the few survivors. It would explain that the goal is to survive as long as possible and that we would need to scavenge for food, weapons, and shelter. Then you would be offered an optional mission where it would explain how to collect supplies and scavenge for food etc. After that mission you would be on your own.

I'm going to put the rest of my ideas below, if you guys think of good ones then I'll add them here.

*16 player free roam.

*No apartments, instead there are safehouses that anyone can go to at anytime. Maybe wood stacks can be found floating around the map, to let us barricade safehouses?

*No pedestrians or traffic. There will be cars that spawn empty rarely on the side of the road or in the wilderness.

*You start out with nothing except a small amount of food and a knife. You will have to scavenge for weapons, food, ammo, and other supplies.

*Your health bar will start to get smaller if you do not eat at least one thing a day. (your health won't go down, the bar will get smaller. Once you eat it will go back to regular size.) If you do not eat for too long then you will die.

*When you die, you will drop a significant amount of items on you.

*You have 3 lives per in game day. You gain an extra life every in game day that you play. If you run out of lives you lose everything on you.

*When you die you will spawn far away from other real players, preventing spawn killing.

*blips only appear on maps when a gun has been fired. If they are in your crew or on your friends list then they will always be on your map.

*You will not be able to use any online service on your cell phone.

*LS Customs will be available, if you find a vehicle you can take it to one to get it barricaded or repaired. You will have use food or other necessities for currency.

*Zombies will be sluggish and will deal a good amount of damage. If they spot you they will start to run at you. They can break into your safe house after some time of attacking it. Some will travel in packs, some alone.

*Ammunations will be open at certain times of the day, providing attachments and special weapons in return for food or other necessities

*Your character, stats and level will remain the same in GTA:O and this DLC.

*Convenience stores can be ransacked for food, but each one will have a limited supply. The supply will re-spawn after a while.

*The prison, airport, and military base will be open with special weapons and vehicles that spawn rarely. These locations can also be used as safe houses but are much harder to defend. To take over these places you must kill all the zombies in the area. There will be a lot of zombies in this area and it will be difficult.

*You can find crates of weapons, ammo, food, and special clothing that spawns randomly around the entire map (special clothing will carry over to GTA:O?)

That's all I have for now, to me it's sort of like DayZ. post your ideas and thoughts below. If you don't like it or disagree with something then post why and what could be done to fix it. Remember this would be a DLC or expansion so you don't have to buy it, and it wouldn't affect the normal GTA:O.

it's sort of like DayZ.

This is hardly a groundbreaking idea - and Saints Row 3 already did the sandbox-crime-zombie thing. We know where to find zombies if we want them.

But +1 for where you said "Zombies will be realistic" - funniest goddam thing I've read all week.

Like I said, there's been a lot of zombie games before, but I have no doubt this would attract a lot of people if it became a DLC. I think the map is perfect for it. And by zombies will be realistic, I meant they won't have mutated powers, or super fast, or like the ones from Left 4 Dead lol. I'll fix that.

I have read 1/3 and some ideas sound great, but to be honest buddy.... dont expect that!

I'm not expecting it, but you never know what it could lead to with enough attention. It's still interesting to discuss imo.

Yep, totally agree with ya. This map is just screaming for a Zombie outbreak.

And yea, any undead fan knows that you meant Romero's zombies when you said "realistic" lol. I did anyway. although runners are starting to grow on me :)

OH sh*t: just popped in my mind........CLICKERS!!! now that would be sweet

Another thought, do a mission at the chem plant and it releases the virus. You then get to watch it spread and help/hurt as you see fit during the chaos.

See a group of cops defending some people from Zed, do you shoot the zombies for reward A or kill the pigs and watch the feeding frenzy ensue then loot the dead?

Zombies chasing you? Shoot out the knee of a survivor and watch them descend on him while you get away.

Would be too much fun.

I'm always down for zombies. I'm not a fair-weather zed slayer. I still love em.

And State of Decay was probably the closest thing I've played to my perfect zombie game, and something similar in GTA, with multiplayer, would be amazing.

i dont think anyone really sees the true potential behind this. we've had games like undead nightmare, the walking dead resident evils etc but none of these games have gave us the right insight to a zombie apocolypse where as if gta brought zombies in we'd get the perfect view of wot it would be like we could have riots, looting, groups of people looking for a safe place or those who like to keep on the move. zombie games have never been done right and i've played them all and been let down time and time again yes there are those that wouldnt buy or agree the concept of zombies on gta but done the correct way there are millions of people who would seriously buy this dlc. people want a realistic zombie game they dont want a restricted map, they dont want a limit of 4 players they want a virtual reality of what a zombie apocolypse would be like seriously guys think of this if you where to breed the gameplay and abilities of GTA with the zombies of dead rising/left for dead and mutate the genes with the rpg capabilities of of fallout the outcome could seriously set a new height to what a zombie game could really be. So hate it or rate it but rockstar you gotta make this my rant is over.....

A game not a game without zombie mode!!! Just wait for the new cod or pretend the AI are zombies in the jobs.

It could honestly just be called "Undead Nightmare 2". If they add in some tattered clothes, a few weapons (double barrel shotgun, revolver, cricket bat, and a few other references to zombie films) then I think it'd be great. They can make it a multiplayer version of Undead Nightmare- with plenty of tongue in cheek references to the original one and other zombie films, and how "the people of LS are already zombies" and that type of thing. When Undead Nightmare came out for RDR, I remember how everyone immediately started drooling over how awesome it would be in GTA.

Sounds like a very nice idea, I just think they are going to think its to much trouble to change parts of the map to a 'zombie outbreak' map (Map is huge, so much would have to change to some sort of 'outbreak style').

Let's say a DrugBaron has released a new type of drug on the market, making the users act strange, behaving similarly to brainless zombies and becoming VERY aggressive.

There are several outbreaks in different parts of Los Santos, and since YOU have been a part of distributing this new drug, you feel a tad guilty, and decide to help put them down, as well as protecting all the civilians from this menace!

Because, let's face it, without civilians, you wouldn't make any money!

Time to arm yourself and your crew and Fight this Zombie-like Threat to Humanity!

Free Roam. Destroyed cars in the roads, empty ones as a rare spawn. No cops, civilian peds increased 10x, all normal walkers, runners when aggro'd.

Literally all that is needed and still would be worth paying for. I would probably play it more than the normal game.

Heard an opp got killed, watch me do my dance.

Got a pocket full of bills, watch me do my dance.

I just popped a pill, watch me do my dance.

Hit that nigga with the steel watch that nigga dance.
