System is definitly buggy. I was offroading in my Sandking last night with a friend riding shotgun. I decided to see how deep in the water I could take my truck before it drowned, and when I called in my insurance claim, my passanger got to foot the bill, granted it was only like 587 dollars, but still kinda f*cked up.

i just witness it someoe blew up my car and my car only cost a thousand and some change to get back and it said the person that blew it up paid for it so i got a no charge when i got my car back

 

it probably got a limit on how much they pay the difference for getting your car back or something?

With the new insurance system, I expected to be safe (as far as paying out) when some tool killed me, then proceed to blow up my Elegy. So I respawn, kill him, and call insurance. Says I still had to pay something like $1178 to get my car back. Was he charged anything or did I pay the full amount?

I -never- bring my Entity out in free roam, because of the insurance costs.

 

But tonight, I felt like doing it. I brought my entity out, and within 5 minutes, someone was chasing me around trying to fight me. So I did, I fought him, killed him twice, and drove away. He chased me, I stopped, and fought him again. Only this time, he suicide bombed both of our cars into each other with a Sticky bomb and killed me and himself, and destroyed both of our vehicles.

 

Now, I figured.. ok, it clearly showed "X player blew you up".. so no problem. I'll just call my insurance, get my car back, and he had to pay 10k for doing that.

Except..... $9,993 or whatever fee showed up. I HAD TO PAY THE FEE! He blew me up, yet I have to pay 10 freaking thousand dollars to get my car back? That's an entire mission's payout.

I'm pretty sure you paid the full amount. The times that someone else has paid for my car it gets paid in full amount, not like half or anything

Problem:

Griefers and trolls understand that all they need to do is put all their money in the bank and then they get free reign to destroy cars without monetary penalty.

 

Solution:

Bypass cash entirely and always take money from the bank. If someone has withdrawn100% of their total net worth then take the money from their cash. If the person has NO money at all make the game pay the money. The victim should never be penalized.

dont know if you have ever had real car insurance but it works the same way. you pay a percentage (premium) to claim said insurance.

I believe they fixed the insurance deal with the last patch or so.. anytime someone destroys my vehicle I call for a claim that says 'NO CHARGE' and the money comes out of their pocket.

 

Are you sure you didn't blow up your own car?

If the other player doesn't have enough money to cover it, you get the full charge. Or the difference.

dont know if you have ever had real car insurance but it works the same way. you pay a percentage (premium) to claim said insurance.

Actually in a case like this the claim would be made against the person at fault's insurance and they would pay their deductible, no cost to the person not at fault. If the person at fault doesn't have insurance you pay your own deductible. No one has like a 12k deductable though.
