Special crate = 5,000 rep

Ok 10 minutes ago in free mode I got a pop up that said a special crate will be dropped in 10 hours. At first I thought it was a glitch cause the words were in gold lettering. So I decided to go & get the crate for the heck of it. When I got there I shot the people that show up at the crates, shot the crate & it this is what I got: Full armor, 5,000 rep, & a freakin mini gun. Bad news is you don't get to keep the mini gun cause I got killed while trying to use it & lost it.

 

Not sure how & when they drop those special crates but if you see one, GO TO IT RIGHT AWAY.

 

Note: Im ranked 57, so maybe you have to be ranked 57 to see them.

Yes they appear all the time for me after about lvl 20 or so. That crate your talking about is the best one it contains 5000RP, $5000, full armour and minigun

 

Other crates sometimes only drop 1000RP and assault rifle ammo or something similar.

 

Either way they are always worth going after, unloading a minigun on an unsuspecting griefer is the best fun I've had in free roam

i have noticed these appearing ALOT recently.

 

seem to start appearing the moment i join. i have no idea what level they require, i just know that at 130+ apperantly i am high enough for them to appear even while solo.

 

that may be the best way to test, if you see a crate drop try going solo for a bit, if you can find them there you should be high enough and report your findings.

As long as you stick to the same session you can keep it, and bring it to missions aswell. I did 10+ missions out of a session yesterday and got to use the minigun I got from the special crates, made things really easy!

I can vouch for the OP as I got the notification as well. Although I wasn't able to get the special crate cuz I got distracted and didn't see where it would drop.

Not always worth it. I found 250 RP and Assault rifle on one of my runs near the observatory. Not worth the trip imo.

 

Edit: But I have gotten a few easy pickups with like 5000$ so It's always worth a shot I guess

Read it again, and I can't say I can see it says "special crate" but "other crates" meaning the normal ones I guess.

 

As in: "Normal crates are always worth going after" which I agree in. But sometimes you only get like 250 rp and that kind og sucks if you drove halfway across the map for only that.

Saw one of these drop the other day, so I headed over to collect it and had 4-5 players show up all guns blazing at each other trying to get this crate, crazy!

Sometimes the normal ones pop out a nice payout in cash/Rp and a half decent gun, but my worst was going from LS all the way to the northern settlement for a measly 250rp and an ak...

I often run around in a Invite Only session and these have been dropping for me from the late 20's levels.
