Airplanes online worth the hassle?

I really want to start saving towards the Luxor but I can't tell if planes online are worth it.. I already own my own apartment, so, I don't know what else to aim for. Could use some opinions.

There are plenty of planes and choppers that spawn on in the airfield around sandy shores. Got an airliner out of there today along with a military chopper and a stunt plane

There really is no point in owning an airplane except for potential usage in future missions that will be released. In any free roam session, you can just go to the airport and find an airplane you can use almost every time you turn around. When you get around level 50 or higher, the Luxor is the default plane you can always find in the same spot at both airports, so buying one would be useless if all you do is free roam.

 

I recently bought a Maverick, and the only reason why was because I had to do a mission for Lester which required a helicopter to get onto a skyscraper, and when I went to the airport during the mission, I found that no air vehicles would spawn during missions. I only settled for the Maverick because it was the cheapest option.

 

So if I were you, I'd save your money for ammo or a car or something rather than an airplane, because as of right now there is no point in owning one.

If you're bored and want something to save for, get a buzzard. It may spawn at airfields, but there's nothing better than whipping out a buzzard during base invaders and getting the cargobob before the others get to ron's plane. Also, I have a luxor and a titan; they are mostly just novelties.

If you're bored and want something to save for, get a buzzard. It may spawn at airfields, but there's nothing better than whipping out a buzzard during base invaders and getting the cargobob before the others get to ron's plane.

 

Or you could just call merryweather and order a chopper, kill the pilot and take his. 1K each time is cheaper than buying a chopper you won't use for the most part (as of right now at least)

Only Airplane thats worth the purchase is the Mallard since its a stunt plane and its super fun to pilot.

You can find most of the airplanes around the map for free, but it's nice to have at least one on call; I chose the C-130.

Actually it depends on who's close to the landing spots first, If you're a higher rank and you get to the Sandy Shores airfield, Airplanes will spawn on Your current rank.

Even in missions you can just call lester, and he will find a chopper for you for 700 bucks, when you call him he will spawn a chopper at one of the closest helipads and mark it for you

Yeah, similar to what SuperSpartan said. Some members of my crew and I were deliberating on wheter to buy the Luxor or not, but we really couldn't nail any compelling reasons. We were going to fly a bunch of crew members around together but that would get old sort of fast. We bought a Titan and tried parachuting out the back on a motorbike but it kept blowing up on us so we quit before one of us got bad sport.

 

Unless, R* makes planes useful I really can't advise you to buy one because, as several have stated before, you can just fo to S.S. Airfield or the Airport to get some cool aircraft.

 

But then again you can buy one just to buy one because it is your money
