Can anyone confirm that once inside the garage, it can be called through the mechanic and used as a personal vehicle?

Yes it can be called through the mechanic and you can take it to LSCustoms once you place it in your garage. I was able to mod my taxi and put insurance and a tracker. Those were the only mods available.

I could save the cop car, what I did was leave the car near the garage door (the exact place is when you get off of the cop car, the "animation" starts) and then make a forward role while aiming and end up next to the car door and then press the ENTER button.

If you don't mind not having the patrol car, you can get a Shrieff SUV, and not go through any of this trouble. You can put a tracker and insurance on it. As well, the SUV is a Granger.

So far I can confirm the following things:

 

- the mechanic WILL bring the Cop Car to you

- you can not drive it into LSC, even if it's been in your garage before

- if you get out of the car, the car does show up as personal vehicle on your radar

- if you want to drive it back into your garage, you have to repeat the trick

Neat, shame about not being able to bring it into LSC. Even if it's just to insure it.

 

We should start a petition on the R* site to have these vehicles able to be modified.

It sucks that you can't even bring these vehicles into LSC to insure them, and must repeat the trick to store them in your garage again. Really frustrating. I think that's a dealbreaker for me, regardless of how cool the Police Riot is.

Cant get the police van to go in. Ive got it where my charactsr sits entirely in the vehicle but then gets out proceeding to walk into the garage

heres an easy way to get them back in the garage without having to do the trick again. get out of the cop car and go far enough away from it so you can call the mechanic to bring you a different car. drive that car back to your garage and the cop vehicle will be there.

To help people out, at first I tried having the vehicle turned some and that wasn't working at all for me. When I put the vehicle straight on towards the entrance, it worked first try. Also remove the door!

I can confirm that if you request a new car from the mechanic the police vehicle will get spawned back into your garage!!

Just did it again to make sure my theory was correct. Make sure the vehicle is straight forward as can be and slowly creep the vehicle forward while getting in and out constantly. I just did a few times no sweat.

This is just like every other vehicle you own, no brainer. Could've told you that with common sense.
