Major Issue that needs to get fixed immediately.

Let me start off by saying I'm not mad or anything, but this is DEFINITELY an issue that needs to be fixed.

 

So, I log into my PSN, and go to play some online, right? I select my character but don't press X to join, instead I went to unplug my controller since I had it charging. In the process of doing so, I accidentally pressed a button. I look up at the TV to see what I had pressed and sure enough, it said "deleting character - please do not turn off your system." There are a number of things wrong with this, let me elaborate on what they are.

 

1.) It didn't ask me to confirm if I was sure I wanted to do that, had it done so, my character would NOT have been deleted. Funny, because rockstar is NOTORIOUS for asking you to confirm if you want to do trivial bullsh*t, but didn't ask me if I was sure I wanted to DELETE MY CHARACTER.

 

2.) Once you are actually "deleting the character", there is NO way to exit. You cannot cancel the action, you cannot go back, you cannot stop the deleting process. I was unable to prevent my character from being deleted.

 

All my progress, all my work, gone with a single accidental button press all because Rockstar, through perhaps forgetfulness, or sheer incompetence, failed to implement a system that asks you if you are sure you want to delete your character, despite having a similar system for the most mundane, trivial of tasks, and yet, no such system exists for one of the most important decisions a player can make.

 

I am a huge fan of R, and even I could not deny that this is a major failure on R's part, pure and simple.

 

Be warned, press a button by mistake and risk having your character deleted because rockstar failed to have the game ask you if you are sure you want to delete your character.

Also, for anyone who posts saying "I just tested and it asked me to confirm", know that I am getting alot of results for this on google. It would appear that there is a confirmation system, but it doesn't always work, and many people are accidentally deleting their characters without being asked to confirm.

Ah that's a real shame. Starting over (unless you have a high ranking friend) is difficult to do. Rockstar deleted my first account which was a rank 21 at the time. It sucks losing your character at no fault of your own. If I'm not mistaken, all your banked money should still be available.
