Combat Is Cheap And Should Be Changed [Multiplayer]

Now I know that this isn't some Fps shooter

but it's got the most boring and bland combat I've ever used in a 3rd person game

[Aim Assist]

Now this is what makes the game crap as it's not about skill anymore but

more about reaction time. Every single time I go online I have never been in a freeroam server yet that doesn't use Aim Assist which you did have the option for in GTA 4 which had much better combat but all it needed in my opinion was a longer bullet distance

Every time I run past the street bam I'm dead. It's even worse in multiplayer as it becomes a camping festival based around who can tap the aim button the quickest and because of this people who have quick reaction times can waste you sprinting to another wall And can find where you are hiding because it locks onto you even when you are sitting inside a bush. Also getting a headshot is incredibly easy with this feature as all you have to do is aim upwards slightly and bam. Even when you think you have a chance in a car to escape

it locks onto your face allowing someone to kill everyone inside the car with little effort Especially when the driver get killed.

[Crouching/Stealth]

The removal of this feature was the most stupidest Idea they could do as

in just about every game you have that evolves around shooting you will most likely have the option to crouch as this allows you to take cover behind objects to reduce the change of you getting hit increasing the Chance of survival and gaining more accuracy in most games including the previous GTA Titles. The removal of this has only given people the incentive to camp more as they cannot crouch out of cover to a wall or a smaller object which reduces combat effectiveness obviously.

And due to the cover system not working in some cases you are forced to stand in the middle of combat because you couldn't crouch behind an object which the cover system doesn't know is cover and this combined with the Auto Aim feature only gets you killed within seconds.

And I have experienced this a large number of times and so have many others I'm sure. As most of the times I see a guy running round in circles at a wall because he couldn't crouch behind that dumpster that was just too small for the cover system to work and in most cases he dies.

It can also be suicidal sometimes going onto roofs because the enemy can see your head before you can see past the wall or floor on the roof,

and if someone is above you or at the same level and can slightly see your head and since you can't crouch while taking cover this means they may be able to headshot you

And if they are trying to make their games realistic why did they remove it because in real combat situations if you are out in the open, you are going down

pretty quick. it's stupid idea to not have it.

[stealth]

This was a big let down for me as most of the time I never see someone using it and I myself never use it. now all it does on multiplayer is remove your Blip which is a small dot representing your location on enemy radars now this is useless as most of the time when you use stealth your chance of survival drops drastically think of it.

You move slower and are an easier target for auto aim to lock onto

which can make you get instant killed as soon as an enemy sees you if you move the Reticule up quick enough so that it hits their head, and most people I know or see don't even stand a chance when using it because they move slower and most of the time get killed because an enemy pops round the corner and finishes them off because they didn't run to that corner quickly enough and because when you focus to much on stealth

you aren't aware of any other enemies in the area because you keep watching someone else's movements while standing there like a statue.

It can also find you when hiding in bushes.

What Rockstar should have done was have stealth Activate when you Crouch and have an animation similar to Splinter Cell where the player

gets down really low with his arms out to the side Like you where creeping up on something.

So in Short

No Crouching = Camping / Less combat effectiveness / Dying Easier /

Auto Aim = Camping / Stealth doesn't Work / Easy kills /

Stealth = Camping / Easier Target / Less kills / Rarely Used

Now I want you to tell me what you think of the combat and what you like and dislike and feel free to agree or disagree with me but please explain why

I dislike morons that make new threads when all they should do is put manual aim in game options before they go online.

Funny especially when it changes it automatically and in jobs asks you to change it and boots you off if you don't

Also this isn't just about the auto aim its other things too

I'm not sure how the aim setting in the lobbies works myself. I thought that if you had free aim selected in singleplayer and went to multiplayer it would put you into a free aim only lobby, unless you changed it while going to a session hosted by someone with Aim Assist on. However, after playing these past few weeks sometimes it feels as if it just tosses you into a random aim assist lobby with free aim enabled for you.

I agree with your point about crouching and was also disappointed to see that you couldn't crouch stealth as well. Hopefully Rockstar decides to add Hardcore Freeroam similar to Red Dead Redemption where everyone has aim assist disabled.

Guess what as people have said above if you wanna go free aim you can do so by setting it up in story then moving to online (as to whether or not you'll find people - there's already loads of threads bitching about the lack of people in free aim lobbies, although there's just as many saying they have no problems at all and maybe it's just your internet/ISP that's f*cking up). Stealth is useful in close quarters deathmatches especially with a lot of blind spots. Hurr Durr it only erases my blip on the map. You know how huge of an advantage that is? You can move up to that corner where you predict someone will be and just blast them before they have a chance to react. You can prowl maps like Maze. I used stealth there when no one else did at the beginning and guess what? I had two deaths even though I moved around because I would always surprise enemies with a shotgun blast that they never expected. Also it apparently affects detection in missions somewhat same as suppressors. Your mileage may vary though

There's also the walking/jogging aspect.

In San Andreas you jogged by default, which made moving around so much easier and smoother. It also freed up your right thumb for camera movement in jog mode.

In IV and V, you walk by default. No one wants to walk that slow. No idea why they made this change. So you have to hold X down just to jog. Now you can't move the camera around while jogging and it takes away your right thumb just so you're not walking in molasses.

This was my biggest gripe with the game. They could have either made it like San Andreas where you jog by default or a game like Tomb Raider where your speed goes by how much you push in the left stick.

Making your character slow walk, and then forcing you to hold down X just to jog makes movement feel clunky.

Because rock star suck at playing so they force noobs ness in there game like all live stream they do is always Auto aim in gtao they force you on roof use cars to kill I wish they made deathmatches like max Payne 3 the aim on that game was so godly

Also you just need to l2p. At certain situations where there's dip in the landscape or rocks or other solid objects you can use them as soft cover. I've survived shooting at NPC enemies out of cover at medium range (it also helps that I don't completely rely on auto aim - again blaming it all on auto aim because you keep dying is just a l2p issue). In deathmatches same thing. We're both out in the open for example (this was that map in the gorge/ravine with a river going down the middle we were on the same side) but because of a rise we can't see each other but due to the blips we know we're just facing each other. I angled myself a bit crept forward keeping my aim to the top of the ridge and guess what he died I didn't because his bullets hit the top of the "ridge" (which was basically just like a little upcropping on level ground) and mine hit his head

Tapping x gives you a bit of momentum before you stop you can use that bit of time to readjust the camera then continue jogging in a new direction. Haven't really had a problem with the run mechanics in the game. IF you want you could argue it adds a sense of realism to this game wherein the player actually has to make an effort to run just like in real life

It adds realism(though people can definitely maneuver better IRL), but I prefer control over realism. I'd rather have a movement scheme like a SA or a Tomb Raider, or even a Max Payne 3. It's just funner and a lot more fluid. It also frees up a thumb, which is pivotal.

yes but no one actually walks around in this game as it would become boring too quickly

so they run instead
