There random but pretty rare. I Loss a Rank 20 awhile back and I never cheated or glitched. Now my new char is almost Rank 50.

You don't lose your character if you follow the instructions R* has added to the loading screen

I follow r* instructions and my guy still got deleted. it been about 18hrs too

What is happening is that when you go into online, the (Rockstar cloud servers are down) screen pops up. Most just back out but TBH it is not totally obvious that if you continue you end up creating a temp character that replaces your prized character. Also there are some that will just go all button dyslexic and press x or circle by mistake and said character is gone. Just BACK out and go play the storymode. I did and got my stunt jumps completed!!

I followed the instructions when my character I create day one. He's gone for good.

should I keep waiting or go head and make new character I been 18-20 hrs since I lost my character

Your characters should be in the cloud servers if you haven't created a new one or spammed the retry when the cloud servers are unavailable. Always back out to story mode and try again later

ok well what happen was, I was playing online but I got tried people use the tank so I switch to story mode to make solo game but instead the game took me to make a character screen. I'll give it another day
