Same 2-3 cars spawning bug

i got this bug on a 2011 model 360 too. it's not a PS3 firmware thing, and it's not an "old model" xbox thing.

 

i was getting it unpatched, and with all patches installed too. doing another playthrough the car spawning gets worse as the story progresses. at the beginning and early parts of the game, there's a wide variety of cars everywhere. the closer i get to the end of the main story, the less variety there is on the roads.

nothing i do (clearing cache, uninstalling/reinstalling updates, restarting game or console, character switching, changing cars often, buying cars, etc) reliably "fixes" it.

 

it's hard to say for sure but travelling very fast so that the console doesn't have much time to stream map models and car models may have something to do with triggering it, but moving slower does not in any way alleviate it, and it can 'glitch out' even if i only go for a walk, without driving at all.

 

@#$%@ i wish there was a fix. it's ridiculous for a carjacking game with 100 models of cars to have only 3 different cars show up everywhere you go!

to heck with fixing people being able to clone a vehicle by glitching nto a garage -- fix this, R* !!

I do get some variation but nothing like I got at the beginning of the game, some cars just don't spawn at all anymore.

It's not as my bad on my brothers account, so I played on his, then switched to mine, and as a result my Traffic vRiety also increase as well. I remember before the game was patched when it first came out, being supprised by the variety of traffic.

I posted this in another topic about how spawning works, it seems to help the problem and may be why people are saying the spawning is ok when starting a new game:

 

Do not store cars in safe house garages, only in the purchasable ones. It seems that the game has limited vehicle memory slots available, and safe house cars use these as well as traffic. Purchasable garages work differently as vehicles are loaded upon entry and so do not use these memory slots. By leaving your safe house garages empty you leave more memory slots open for traffic vehicles and so you should get more traffic variety and have a larger chance of rarer vehicles spawning like the Futo or Sabre etc. It's still not perfect but with full safe house garages I was often seeing only two different vehicle types at once, now with empty safe house garages I'm seeing often seeing 6 or more types at once.

 

Vehicles in your safe house garages can also influence traffic spawning, for example If you have a Dubsta and a Vigero in a safe house garage you will tend to see those vehicles far more often around the whole map. If you have non-traffic vehicles like the Cheetah then they hog a memory slot and still don't spawn in traffic.

However, I have no cars saved in my safe house garage. Haven't in a long time. I have only one car in the Grove Street Garage(Poppy's car). My car spawning issue hasn't got any better. This makes me think there must be something else that is also hogging memory slots that the cars use.

Since the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions have been announced, I doubt this ever gets fixed. Not only that, but I guess we're stuck with an incomplete version for those of us who are console only players, unless we buy a PS4, Xbox One, or a gaming PC. This is bullsh*t.

I don't understand why this bug remains persistent even when you uninstall the entire game and delete saves. When making a new game, the variation IS better, but the lack of certain cars for an extended period of time is glaring. And still too many SUVs and general 4 door cars. Whatever is going on, when the memory is taken up, it is not cleared out completely no matter what you do. That being said, this bug is a memory leak. And Rockstar should know better than to let something like that stick around. It will be a lot easier to investigate on the PC version, but the consoles are still up in the air..

Just want to clarify that this occurs on the fat and slim PS3s. Happened on 2 playthroughs on my 60gb fat and 1 playthrough on my slim. I have also noticed that the spawn bug gets worse the farther into the story you get. I noticed this when I was trying to find rare cars like the Futo. Once you complete the story, you will almost never find the rare cars because the Jeeps and Minis keep spawning.

Just want to clarify that this occurs on the fat and slim PS3s. Happened on 2 playthroughs on my 60gb fat and 1 playthrough on my slim. It seemed to get bad when I started the Eplsion mission, where you have to steal cars for the leaders.

The Cognoscenti Cabrio hasnt spawned in traffic ever since, I even bought one, drove it arrounf & nothing but SUV's & Minis appeard

I hope next gen doesn't suffer from this, but by the looks of the trailer it probably will. Someone please, if you are reading this and have a solution the fix once and for all, I BEG YOU! PLEASE TELL US NOW!!! I AM SICK OF THESE f*ckING JEEPS, AND f*ckING SUVs SPAWNING ALL ACROSS THE MAP! Even the parking lots are filled with Jeeps now! This "minor" bug is really gamebreaking.

 

People need to Email R* about this. If there aren't enough people with this problem to worry about, then I don't think they care. I'm sure there are a crap ton other people with this problem, these people should be emailing R* because the more emails they get, the more likely they would to fix the issue. I'm also giving this one more chance. Come 1.14 and this still isn't fixed, I am done. I am so 400% f*cking DONE.

For me, they can even reduce graphics a little just to make other things "right".

 

It's not funny when you must restart the game just to have diverse traffic for like 5-10 minutes and then go back to this bug..

So here's some advice. When you start a new game, if you see a specific car you like and want to keep, try to take care of it the best you can, and make sure you keep the impound clear, so that if you need to ditch the car, it will be able to appear the impound. Full impound = car lost forever.

I got you but I'm not searching for a specific car.

I just want to "admire" the world by walking with Chop for example but the game doesn't allow me to.

It's not nice when you see only SUVs passing by

Does replaying missions help? Does deleting all save data including dlc packs and reinstalling help? I don't know, but I'm about to try and see. I have both discs installed. Disc 1 is installed to HDD and disc 2 is installed to USB. Does having 2 discs installed cause the problem? If so, I might delete disc 2.

Unfortunatelly nothig, just nothing seems to fix it.

Rockstar programmed the game the way it is and it's bad. I don't need a shiny graphics when gameplay must suffer for this.

 

The best part is that the further you are in story mode the worse is this bug..

@TensaZangetsu, I have the Ps3 version of the game with this issue too and nothing helps. I tried absolutely everything.

From deleting everything, starting the game over and over again to cleaning out my PS plus the laser lense!

I send e-mails to Rockstar after every patch they release but got nothing back from them.. frustrating!!

I noticed after replaying the story in offline mode this week & it's gotten worse! It's almost as if they did it deliberately after the last few updates. My theory is it's because of the DLC content they made avalable to offline storymode. So far the cars that seemingly spawn the most are: the Messa, BJay XL, emperor, buffalo, and a few other generic SUVs.

 

The cars that we want to steel & drive the most stop spawning almost entirely like the corvettes lambos, Austin martins, R8s, mustangs etc. huge bummer because those cars made a lot of people hopeful about the diverse selection of sports cars. Now it sucks because instead of steeling a car we want we are only left with what we can pretty much order on the auto websites.

And on that note, why does the GTO type car almost always over spawn near grove street? Let's be realistic here for a second. A GTO would rarely be seen anywhere nowadays because a classic GTO is supposed to be basically extreamily rare. You'd think you would see more 80s imports driving around the getto than fully restored classic GTOs.

This is actually an extreme decrease of car variety that goes beyond the console limitation issue. If it really were due to console limitations, then cars would at least be swapping out as you move from one area to another. Having only jeeps and vans spawning through the entire map, from Grove Street to Paleto Bay, however, is definitely a sign that the game is glitching out. I have a feeling that with Patch 1.13, there will be NO cars spawning at all. That shows how much R* screws things up with their patches. 1.12 has only ONE story mode fix. I wish that these game developers, R* included, actually removed all the bugs BEFORE releasing the game. GTA V feels like an unfinished product with so many bugs and glitches.

As much as I would like Dev's to remove bug's before the game comes out, at the same time it's nearly impossible. Bug's can happen for a variety of reasons, ranging from standing at point A to missing point B by a few feet all the way up to completing a mission. Without extensive testing, it's impossible to find every single bug. The Dev's might of missed some code, or some code went weird after doing Such and Such this or Such and Such that. All the game tester's that R* has is not enough to find every single bug, and that said, not all bug's are simple to fix. In a perfect world then yes, Dev's would have every bug fixed before release. But instead, a lot of the bug's come from the community. 50+ Game Tester's will not find all the bug's, nor as fast, as 10+ Million gamer's. Although it is a bug that is annoying (although I never got it) I have to give prop's to R* for all the thing's that are NOT broken. With all this coding in GTA 5, it's very delicate. Changing one string of code, one line, could mess the entire game up. Don't get me wrong, I hope this is fixed soon for those who have this bug, but at the same time, R* has other thing's working on, new games, patch's for other games, etc etc... GTA 5 isn't their only game so I don't blame them for not having a 100% fix, nor is it a simple game to mess around with coding-wise. But hey, just my 2 cent's here.

I understand not many people get this bug, but what baffles me is that it's only a few people with this bug, and we must have done something to get it, otherwise everyone would have this bug. Think about it. If not everyone has the bug, we have done something to cause it. We need to find out what caused the bug, and fix it right away. Otherwise, I don't think R* are concerned with very few people having this bug, I don't think they care unless it's almost everyone with the bug. So let's figure out what lead to causing this bug, and try to attempt to fix it ourselves. IMO, I think this is the only way I know of at the moment, unless R* puts out a patch for the handful of people with the bug, which I doubt. But I would be very surprised if they did.

It only looks like a few because not many people reported it in this thread. Gamefaqs have victims of this bug too, as well as the ign posters. We aren't alone on this. Others may keep to themselves because lack of faith. One of those bugs they know is never gonna be fixed. Deal with something like that in other games and you stop caring after awhile.

 

All I can is remember is two things I did BEFORE the bug occurred. One of them was something I was trying out because I stumbled onto it by accident.

 

In this order:

1. I was trying to get inside Mount Zacunda, and got killed. Spawned at nearest hospital, and hopped into the nearest jeep.

2. Picked up a prostitute and they did their thing, I spammed this just to see how many rounds they would go.

 

 

#1 is when I noticed way too many jeeps, but variance was still "ok". #2 is when the variance got noticeably less.

 

As hours went by, I didn't see anymore supers/sports/muscle cars. ALL jeeps, general 4 door cars.

Unfortunately, my testing has not proven that either one of those is the trigger for this bug.

Watching a lot of youtube videos of the game and I seem to notice that the jeeps are around way to much, I don't think it's something that is rare or that only a few people have, it's just something that a lot of people don't really notice, or don't report.

I find the way this bug occur's is quite strange. My older PS3, one of the "Fat" model's, I've had it for about 5 year's now and recently it's time finally passed. On that ps3, I did get this bug. GTA 5 seemed to be loading around 4-5 car model's only, unless I moved to Sandy shore's area, where it would load more country vehicles, but limited to 2-3 models at a time. This only really happened After I beat GTA 5 (Not 100%, just the missions). I just got a new PS3 about 2 month's ago, one of the newer "Super Slim" ps3's, and yet I've beaten the game but have not received the bug at all. Rarely, GTA would spawn maybe 4-5 car model's, but this would only occur for a short time of maybe 5 minutes, afterwords it seemed to go back to spawning all sort's and variety's of vehicle's. Throwing a guess out here, but could this be in part with how old your console is? Whether it's a newer model or and older? Because after my testing that's where I'm getting, but just an idea.

I have a white Xbox 360 Arcade with Jasper Chipset from October 2009. I've had my Xbox for almost 5 years, and it still works just like when I bought it. If it only happens on older models, then I guess I'm just screwed. Then again, some users said that they had problem on the Xbox Slim as well, so...

 

EDIT: I've reported this bug to Rockstar Support: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/communities/public/questions/201935838-Car-Spawning-Glitch-Only-2-3-cars-spawning-over-whole-map- I hope to get some answers from them soon.

I mean, really? I've done that a billion times already, and it doesn't fix it one bit. I don't know any more. Might just play other games until it gets fixed. If it ever does.
