IRL friend and I cannot Friend each other

Help! A buddy and I have been trying to hook up in GTA online half the damn day!

There seems to be no way to do in via the actual online interface in the game?

We both joined the social club.

Both searched for each other via the friends page at the social club and sent invites - but neither of us received anything.

Both created crews and sent each other invites - again nothing.

I can't even see the crew I created showing up anywhere in my GTA online menus or anything (under 'myu crews' I just get empty slots).

I've not found a guide to how to do it anywhere!

PLEASE HELP...

Playing together is one of the main reasons we both bought the game... We're old gaming buddies but now live 3000 miles apart... This truly sucks... It must be something so easy since every 13-year-old in America has managed it

Yeah, but we can't get that far - that's the point! My 'friends' tab (and his) just says 'you don't have any friends. your friends will appear here when you have added some.' but no way to search for or add friends.

It is easy for everyone to find each other, but it hasn't been working since at least last night.

 

Last night, it kept failing to join me and my friends.

 

When you are on rockstar social, make sure you both link your PSN accounts there, so you can see that you are friends on Rockstar. If you see your friends in the section when you go "start" to "online" and then press "friends," then eventually you can play together and something is just wrong with the servers.

 

My friends are where I just told you to look. I can see them but I can't hook up to them. Did you try to do a friend invite from your list of friends also?

 

I can't get on at all right now and I'm pissed.

When you are on rockstar social, make sure you both link your PSN accounts there, so you can see that you are friends on Rockstar.

 

Thanks for trying but... This is what no workee. At present I have no friends (story of my life) either in rockstar social or gta online pause menu. With no option for finding friends in the pause menu (?!) I figure I gotta use rs social club... Here's what looked like should work:

 

On Rockstar social (on laptop) I go to 'friends', then 'search', find my mate's handle, send invite or message or whatever it is... it says 'pending'... but he no gettee any invite, message, anything. Same if he does this for me: he finds me on rockstar social, he sends friend invite, I get nothing.

 

 

Similarly, if I create a crew on rockstar social, (a) it doesn't show up in my gta online (wtf???), and (b) attempts to invite him to join go nowhere.

 

Mind you, right now i can't get on at all... rockstar servers unavailable, apparently. again.

I don't know. They might have some server issues. If you want to tell me your screen name, I can try to friend you and see what happens--if you are on PS3.
