Anyone else notice cars purposely trying to hit you?

Like a car will be stopping at a light going about 3 MPH, and if I go in front of them all of the sudden they're like a rocket and hit me at about 70 MPH. They go from 3 to 70 in 5 ft. Am I the only one this has happened to?

There is a random chance pedestrians in cars will either spawn in your projected path or swerve into it. Sometimes if you are going fast and the projected path runs into the ped car, sometimes they will swerve out of the way or hit the brakes. Really annoying most of the time.

Yes happens to me when I'm walking. Cars will cross lanes and onto a sidewalk to drive over me. Sometimes it happens when I leave my apartment, immediately spawnkilled by an NPC.

I'm driving in the correct lane and some dumbass npc crosses the center line and hits me head on, why???? It almost makes me think that if you drive clean too long an npc decides to wreck you!!!

My favorite part is when the game takes control of the NPC's car and starts to drag it along the road as the ped is slamming on the break. The it either hits you or just to get in your way. This usually happens during missions so I'm assuming this is cockstars way of trying to make the game more challenging.

how about when the NPC drivers feel the need to run red lights, and/or switch lanes without hesitation.

 

pisses me off when I'm blasting through traffic full speed to have a car purposely try to get in my way.

Speeding down the road, engine roaring, I know that prick in the convertible can hear me coming up just behind him.

YES. My friend commented about it the other day and I'm noticing it more and more. I can't even count the times I have been obliterated by a pedestrian car going 100mph or getting involved in an impromptu demolition derby when they decide to switch lanes *right* when you try to zoom by.

Never fails. I rob a store, make my exit, slam the gas pedal down and leave the scene before the chopper arrives. Headed toward an alley, driving in the correct lane, switch lanes to go around some creep eyeing a hooker and BAM he is in the wrong lane, just decided he needed to go left from his current position. Next thing I know, cops and chopper are on me. Thanks Mr. Hooker Patron but you're a freaking idiot.

I think the worst is when they make a turn from the outside lane. Perfect timing too, right as I'm about to pass lol. It's almost like driving irl!

The driver AI in multiplayer practically has a 70% lower IQ than the driver AI in single-player.

Cars sometimes try to ram me out of nowhere.

 

Even on foot sometimes they will speed up and hit me if I'm near them on the road, not necessarily in front of them though

You people have never driven in a REAL city. People hit people for no reason all the time. Be glad they can't run proper rush hour traffic on us.

My favourite (and just so we're clear, by "favourite" I mean 'thing that makes me roll my eyes so hard I look like a slot machine") is what I like to call the Random Head-On Suicide:

 

High speed down a wide road (always >2 lanes for some reason), I'm in the inside lane - oncoming car inexplicably jumps the line at the last second and our engine blocks get intimate - I get hurt, the car has taken a catastrophic hit and the other driver dies, so there's a good chance I'll get a wanted level - he does it so last-second that the only way I've been able to avoid it is to just assume every oncoming car is going to do it and dodge preemptively - obviously nonviable as 99% of oncoming cars don't do this. But that one, man - it wrecks you.

 

I've seen it regularly since launch - and, like someone above says, it almost feels like the game detects that you've gone too long without a crash and sets something in place to rectify that. If I were to take a semi-educated guess, I'd say it's a slight malfunction of the NPC's anti-collision response algorithm - they're definitely reacting to proximity with us, so I think that when they jump in front of you they were actually trying to do the opposite but they projected your course inaccurately or something.

You play that mission where you have to steal a big rig from the bikers and drive it to a cabin before the time is up?

I was driving the big rig to the cabin while being chased by bikers and I kid you not, 90% of the cars in the opposite lane kept swerving into my lane and crashing into me for no reason whatsoever. It made no sense why they kept turning into my lane and crashing into me. Maybe R* wanted to make the mission harder, but it was just ridiculous.

I thought I was just being paranoid about the NPC's getting aggressively more stupid with their driving.. glad to hear that isn't the case LOL

I get this a LOT in races with traffic turned on. Near enough at every junction, I can guarantee some car will either pull out straight in front of me if its a T junction or a car will turn from the oncoming lane taking up both lanes and decide its best to stop and wait a moment as I then go careering into the side of them.

 

I don't usually get stressed at games, but these races have me shouting "F*CK OFF!" and "F*CKING CARS!" At my TV every 30 seconds
