Yeah I usually have my mic set to crew and friends. Hearing squeakers, racists, trollers and the rest is a bore.

When I'm playing either I'm in a private party with bros or I'm trying not to wake a baby up. So I pretty much never talk to peeps.

Most of the time I'll have it on, but listening to the ghetto people arguing about getting their GED, or the constant "Bro bro brah" "nigha nigga naga" "8 year old telling me/others I'm/they're gay.." (ya?) hearing other peoples family in the back ground... makes me mute it and set it down.

I did have the opportunity to play with a few German guys the other day in a survival. One of their guys disconnected and one of the remaining guys started telling me in broken English that they were going to drop too because they've been trying to play together for hours. He apologized multiple times and told me good luck and I told him it was no problem at all and good luck.. It's good to have it on sometimes, but most of the time it's not worth the ear ache.

/cool story

I have a mic but no friends :(

most of the time it just sits on my head being useless since no1 really seems to use their mic for anything other than calling people ni**er.

the rare occasions when I do actually get an actual conversation or cooperation in a mission are pretty cool though

ow and I'm on xbox where every1 is supposed to have a mic

I tend not to use a mic (it's currently broken anyway, but assuming if it was still intact) because:

a) I have no reason to talk... I'd likely start shouting curse words to other players if I used a mic.

b) I dislike the sound of my own voice. For real... I heard it once (3rd-6th grade) from a recorder... I received such trauma from it.

c) ... it's broken. Duh?

Although, I hate the fact that my current mic (headset) echoes even though I have muted the microphone itself plus it's broken. So yeah.

Ya.. I really don't get the thing with people broadcasting everything that goes on in their house. I heard a guy tonight asking his mom/girlfriend for bus money so he could get to court tomorrow. Like.. really dude. Sometimes its people screaming at their kids to shut up, just nasty stuff that shouldn't be heard.

Yeah, it's just proper mic etiquette. I usually just quickly mute them and make them an avoided player. I'm astounded when there's a whole XBL party of 8 people and one guys mic is just making awful buzzing noises, it's staticy, he's blaring music in the background and everyones just oblivious to it. That and people having full out conservations on the phone or with their mom is just bad manners and those people probably aren't much better about it in real life.

I'm hoping the microphones that they include with Xbone are of decent quality, I know I went through three Microsoft head sets before finally getting a real head set microphone. Everything is so much clearer, and it sounds amazing. I can individually charger my game and mic volume on the fly so when people are being loud I just turn it down a bit. It also doesn't hurt to just ask sometimes "hey can you pull your mic away from your mouth a little" or something like that. I have mine almost in the up position because when it's close to my mouth at all I'm just too loud.

My biggest gaming pet peeve is probably a sh*tty or noisy mic, oh and echoing I can't f*cking stand when there's an echo. When you hear the buzzing sound when someone talks it's most likely their charger plugged into the Play N Charge, it does that.

Also for the love of god turn down your TV or don't sit so close! This is what usually causes the echo, I absolutely hate when I can hear someone's TV through their mic These are the people who would benefit from a real head set, I urge everyone to get one you will not regret it.

According to everyone on the forums there are little kids constantly screaming at them when they valiantly kill them in retaliation to stop their "trolling," but so far I've been called a ni**er once and heard some strange moaning. Other than that every lobby I've been in has been dead silent.

No one wants to hear me ask the cashier in a very flambouyant voice to please hand over the money in the reigster.

Compliment him a little... ask him how his day is, how his family is. Remark about the weather that day.

Tell him about the odd things that happened to me earlier that d-

PLEASE STOP SHOUTING I'M NOT DEAF!

O...okay...

Cool so all the people who have mics don't bother using them because of other people with mics. Then you wonder why the community sucks, you're all just as bad. Especially the guy who said he mutes everyone instantly, what the f*ck?

The problem is just as bad on XBL, and yeah a lot of people have sh*t mics and have not discovered the joys of an actual mic/head set.

I usually always have my mic in when ever I'm in multiplayer in any game. I enjoy talking and hearing other people, it's one of the things that makes online gaming interesting and fun.

The bigger problem on Xbox I would say is Xbox Live Party Chat. It's convinent and I do use it a lot since its usually clearer than game chat, but if I am playing a team game then I most certainly want to be in game chat. Same goes for GTA, since I'm always switching from TDM to racing and free mode ill always have it in. I really don't like being in Party Chat because how are you suppose to find other like minded players that won't shoot on sight without being able to communicate with everyone. I hate when people just stay in party chat like anti social dweebs, it's ok if you just want to hang with your friends but it's nice sometimes to chat with people in game chat. You'll never make any decent friends being an XBL party shut in.

The community sucks because people don't use their mics? Even if everyone did use a mic to talk to everyone else in freeroam I doubt that would improve the community at all. I mute everyone too when I play on public freeroam. Only time I use my mic is when my friends are on GTAO.

I use my mic when it's worth using, so if on a mission or in a room with actual racers, not bumper car drivers looking for the fair.

Im pretty sure that 90% of the psn community does not use a mic on gta 5, whats the problem?

many people like myself keep chat on friends and crew since most players sound like hot girls but are actually little boys with squeaky voices.

If those little boys would stop using mics there would be more normal people willing to listen to the open channel.

I tend to listen more than I talk. I'll never jump in a session and start chatting, I usually listen for a few minutes to gauge what's going on.

Last night was a great example.

I heard this black american guy trolling on this other poor guy and saying how good his buffalo was. Killing this other dude loads and just trash talking everyone. I was in a car with a friend in game and we were doing our own thing. Went past his place where he was with no intention to attack him, and he starts shouting at us. Why have you come to kill me... Starts acting all big, bear in mind he's level 23, I'm level 48 and my buddy was 80 something!

We weren't actually going to kill him but when provoked we can be nasty. My buddy was like ashley shall we get him. I honked the horn (I'm staying silent at this point so he thinks I don't have a mic). So that happened. After about half hour of just raping this guy time and time again. He was giving up. I think having Grenades thrown at you, being ran over and just getting head shots had exhausted this guy.

It was funny to actually voice to him, if he was sorry yet or if we should keep coming after him. He left when he found out we had voices.

I do like using a mic, and chatting to people. It's just a shame that most people don't talk, and when they do its insulting!

I play PS3 only and at least on this console the chance to meet normal people that use mics is like 1 of 100. There are multiple types ranging from kids that want me to hear their crappy gangsta rap, others that like to teach everyone just to convince themselves about how smart they are, simply weird people with birds in their head and little kids that have fun from pressing joystick buttons alone. From those mentioned before only the little kids are worth to listen at because they at least are fun most of time. That said game with no mute function is a very bad game indeed.

There's usually at least one person with a mic in any given session, sometimes up to 4 or 5. Amazingly, I haven't run into any stereotypical trash talking 12 year olds yet, though I've come across a lot of people with cheap, crackly mics, and people who blast their sh*tty music. Usually though it's two or three people talking about whatever.

Don't have a mic myself, but when/if I get one I'm only going to use it for missions.

I use my mic when I'm playing with friends, otherwise there's nothing so complex in GTA Online that requires extensive coordination.

It's been my experience that the guys who get pushy about mics ("Have a mic? Have a mic!?") are usually baddies. Some folks get so anxious when they're not babbling constantly.
