Does anyone use a freakin mic anymore?

The short of it is the majority of people that use a mic on consoles are the kids that put it on, have conversations and tantrums while their mom is shouting at them from across the room, or they're being obnoxious or making stupid noises and other nonsensical crap into the microphone. The rest of them are spouting insults every time they make a shot (after missing the first 20) and then blah blah I don't have to explain it you guys all know. For that reason I don't use it because trying to reason with those people is a waste of time, they don't listen.

 

On the other hand, I play regularly with buddies so if they come on I'll turn the mic on and chat with them the whole time while playing. Probably annoy everyone else in the server because we'll talk about random crap.

 

I also always have the voice chat set to Friends + Crew. I don't know if that works because I can still hear other people in proximity but whatever, it cuts down a lot of the chatter.

I stopped using mine, and listening to others because I keep getting idiot teenagers (The group that thinks saying swag and yolo is cool...) rapping dumb songs into their mics instead of using it for communication. This was happening a lot. Simply could not listen to that garbage any longer.

I usually have mine set to crew and friends but if I want to hear gta gangstas, the word nigga, hate speech, annoying teens or loud ass music I put it on everyone. Although sometimes I put it on everyone and put bountiesand send mercs after the "gangsters."

i have used them only when someone asks a relevant question and needs help, other than that i do no use them.

 

all due to these little childish under aged wank*rs who think its fun to insult players for no good reason, i want to play to enjoy the game not get worked up and stressed out.

I've only had one good experience with a Mic in the weeks that I've played Online. It was this one guy who was really friendly during Survival going "come on, we can do this" and "Good job!" when I finished a round on my lonesome. For the rest its kids, "Nigga's", foreigners or just random guys. 90% of the time with sh*t quality mics, though.

 

(Don't have a mic myself and I don't want to be one of the same assholes with a sh*tty mic)

I think freeroam sessions have more normal mic users, as in normal people, mature players. Not those squeeling sh*tfaces of underaged people.

A couple of nights ago I was playing a German group, think they were still at elementary. Squeeking voices you hear whenever you kill or get killed. It was funny, because I am a free aim player, and I was in traditional GTA aim. However, I started a sniper battle and had a big advantage over their sh*tty free aim skills. At a point I was being called a "Hurensohn", which is german for "son of a whore/bitch". Always like those squeels of a kid that gets owned. Hate them playing this game. I truly do.

We are using our mics plenty. But we play mainly invite only, so we lack squeaky kid voices or morons that pretend they are "nigga' gangsta'" and try to swear like one. Been in a few public lobbies and they are less than ideal.

Listening to these retards is enough to make you never want to talk to random XBL users again. The stupidity is alarming. Seriously, they're obvious drop-outs with no ability to string a cohesive thought together or present any kind of meaningful argument about anything, yet in their heads they are the world's foremost authority on EVERYTHING. I was listening to one retard drone on about how Jaqueline Kennedy murdered JFK with the flowers she was holding. There was a gun in it. Arrrrrgh. I run into these people more often than not, so...muted headset. I'm usually listening to the radio while I play, anyway.

I dunno what to do… the PS3 headset sounds awesome when it's up loud and the mic is great quality. I usually ask a few times if anybody's got a mic, but rarely get an answer anymore. Only annoying things I ever do are sing in the shower (but hey, I use a guitar so it ain't that bad?). I say dumb stuff to the convenience store guys too but it breaks up the boredom. Otherwise I'll stay muted unless I gap out and start talking without realizing anybody's listening. (um ya.. embarrassing)

Only time I'll ever really go nuts is if some douchebag targets me from behind with missiles for no reason. It majorly pisses me off when asshole newbies blow you out of the sky for now reason and cost you $1000 for another helicopter.

So with that I usually stick to solo or mic off so I don't have to hear that. I always put it it when playing Missions/Races/Ect.

 

Note: I'm not against people talking their native tongue just frustrating hearing something I can't understand nor can they I so I just stay out of it.

I use the mic most of the time. I do normally filter to "crew+friends" but if I join a random mission I will open it up. Hunting bounties I listen to "everyone" to try and gain intelligence on my target.

Is seems the majority of players do not use comms. I get frustrated trying to work as a team in a mission with someone you cannot communicate with. So I will usually not play with peeps that are not using two-way comms.

Yeah, it is really annoying trying to play the missions where you have to steal the vans from the quarry or the steal the helicopter without a mic on.

My friends and I use my TS3 server.

 

On PS3 we have found that if you are driving, sometimes fast sometimes slow, the game will stop sending voice to the other people. 3 of us were standing still talking and 1 guy driving couldn't be heard talking, nor could he hear us. This is bad for the Grab this vehicle missions as we loose communication to each other.
