A lot of people play with chat settings switched to crew + friends.

Thats what mine is on and the same goes for most I get online with. Sometimes I forget and would actually like the chat to be set on everyone but f*ck it.

You REALLY don't want to hear my shower singing.

And for that reason, my mic shall remain muted!

Everyone I've heard that had a mic either

A. Much have had sh*tty mics because you can only every hear one word at a time.

B. Ghetto black dudes blasting sh*tty rap in their rooms and saying "Bugatti" in every sentence

C. Little kids who aren't even old enough to play the game.

Hit the nail on the head there bro! Little kids and music drive me insane..!

Out of interest is there a way to find out who's screeching/playing gangster rap then mute them? Sometimes I feel I might miss something actually relevant to my session if i turn my mic down, or unplug it!

double or triple tap down on the d pad, look for annoying offenders mic symbol to appear next to their name when they talk, bring up the menu(start button) go to online>players mute offender by highlighting their name and hitting x or a I think it is for Xbox. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please. Edited by cwo-reynolds

I like using my mic and I'm often accused of using a voice changer.. whatever. I enjoy talking to people.. especially during free roam shooting. I've noticed a lot of gamers are not happy that I don't take their killing of me very seriously. Most of the time I laugh.

Cool so all the people who have mics don't bother using them because of other people with mics. Then you wonder why the community sucks, you're all just as bad. Especially the guy who said he mutes everyone instantly, what the f*ck?

The problem is just as bad on XBL, and yeah a lot of people have sh*t mics and have not discovered the joys of an actual mic/head set.

I usually always have my mic in when ever I'm in multiplayer in any game. I enjoy talking and hearing other people, it's one of the things that makes online gaming interesting and fun.

The bigger problem on Xbox I would say is Xbox Live Party Chat. It's convinent and I do use it a lot since its usually clearer than game chat, but if I am playing a team game then I most certainly want to be in game chat. Same goes for GTA, since I'm always switching from TDM to racing and free mode ill always have it in. I really don't like being in Party Chat because how are you suppose to find other like minded players that won't shoot on sight without being able to communicate with everyone. I hate when people just stay in party chat like anti social dweebs, it's ok if you just want to hang with your friends but it's nice sometimes to chat with people in game chat. You'll never make any decent friends being an XBL party shut in.

E. People from the UK trash talking

F. People from the US trash talking

G. People arguing

I only use my mic on missions or in rooms with friends, period.

Ya.. I really don't get the thing with people broadcasting everything that goes on in their house. I heard a guy tonight asking his mom/girlfriend for bus money so he could get to court tomorrow. Like.. really dude. Sometimes its people screaming at their kids to shut up, just nasty stuff that shouldn't be heard.

Pretty much why I won't use any chat system that doesn't have PTT. I just mute everyone instead.

I got one the other day and have used it a couple times (I'm on PS3). Pretty much just laugh at people and call them clowns. Also stole some punks PV last night and just drove it around a bit telling him how sh*t it was and what a clown he is lol

Yeah, Push to Talk would be brilliant.

I bet the XBone and PS4 have every new feature you could imagine, except Push to Talk....

I'm not sure why they assume that either

a) gamers play in dark rooms with door closed all the time or

b) we all want to hear EVERYTHING that's going on at somebody elses house.

Anyway, I keep a headset on despite this, just don't talk much.

To be totally fair, it would be problematic with the current controllers, as devs would have to alter control schemes to accomodate it.

But that's a reason to extend the usefullness of the controller, not to have a sub-par chat system.

I use a cheapie USB sound card with a basic analog logitech headset that has an on/off switch for the microphone. I always switch it to the off position until I want to talk.. I suppose that's push-to-talk?

I've only recently learned of bluetooth headsets.. maybe that's a better way to go?

Not really....ideally you'd want a PTT button/switch on the controller somewhere, so that holding it to talk won't disrupt the flow of your gameplay.

I'd rather everyone stop using mics.

Ghetto black dudes? How do you know ones nationality over a headset?

Ive heard my share of ignorance over the headset, but didnt want to join the ignorance party by assuming race smdh

On Xbox, I normally play in a closed friends or crew session with several members, so we find Party Chat much easier to use, its much clearer and the voice doesnt get distorted like it does in game chat, not too mention in game chat, when we play a game mode, and die, you can no longer speak to your friends or team members, which can be pretty lame.

Public rooms are a wasteland normally, with either 1 of 2 extremes going on, either everyone is freeroam deathmatching because they are idiots....well maybe thats a little harsh, perhaps the word I'm looking for is "childish" and think GTA is a gigantic FPS shooter title where the name of the game is GTA standing for Grief all of The Avatars or something, or everyone stays as far away from each other as possible, and the two do not mix well.

i dont have a mic, but i do hear people on mics... honestly, its not that bad.

most little kids are actually nice and try to talk about game-related things.

then some pre-pubescent teen starts with the "ur voice is so squeaky man stfu" and thats how the trouble starts

When I'm playing, I'm usually partied up with a group of friends. Though I will use the mic if necessary during random lobbies. Usually it works out just fine without, though.

Im pretty sure that 90% of the psn community does not use a mic on gta 5, whats the problem?

The other 10 percent are people of certain ethnicity that call everyone "nigga" whether they themselves are black or not. They sound like they just smoked some crack and also ramble incoherently like a 13 year old perverted homophobe.

That's why.

I always have my mic on but rarely do I have it set to anything besides "Crew and Friends".

Nobody mentioned the ear splitting moments from mic feedback.

I'll plug mine in if someone is chatting decently.

I mute a lot of people for trash talking that isn't clever, noise (Kinect mic is bad about this), squeaky voices, and yelling into my ear.

On XBL it's best to pull up their profile and perma mute them. These people are almost always repeat offenders.

I use my microphone to tell people to shut up when they go on and on about anything people don't care about.

i only use it in crew sessions..

people without mic don't bother me at all! it's all the people with a cheap ass mic without filter and way to high sensitivity that annoy me. they might as well turn it off because they get muted anyways
