So yeah we do a race we like to put traffic on to make it harder. But with these Pedestrians its stupid they make a right turn then they will just change to the left when they do the right turn. The Ai are so stupid... Where did they get there driving License!!!

You can turn traffic off m8

I AM SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO, BUT MY WEBCAM IS ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.

AI has to be dumbed down because networking an open world takes a lot of client side processing power to sync everything and such- and this generation of consoles don't have that. SP the traffic reacts mostly realistically

I do agree, I love playing with traffic on and weaving thru it!

I hate playing with no traffic. Traffic is the sh*t. All races are way to simple without traffic.

Yeah I never see them user their blinkers online. That has caused a lot of crashes for me. Also when you have a bad connection to the host the cars get all glitchy and start sliding around defying the laws of physics. But yeah I still like the added challenge.

I love it when they are in the far right lane and then turn hard across two lanes to get to the left turning lane. I've t-boned many idiotic AI drivers doing this...to the point where if the impact doesnt kill them, I do.

Traffic <off> creates a different challenge. Yesterday I was in a long bike race and it was great trying to shave as much off the corners as possible to get the quickest line. Traffic not only makes it harder but takes away some of the skill. If you keep hitting ai traffic turning corners then you stand no chance of winning however skilled you are.

I have Races with both Traffic on and off.

It all depends on where you think it will suit the particular race better. :)

But mostly i have Traffic and Catchup off.

I always race with traffic on. It's more challenging, takes some more skill and your opponents usually screws up if they are in the lead, so you always have a chance of winning

Traffic: off. It's an element of randomness, not the same for all players (ie traffic can allow ideal lines for some players and not for others).

Except on Arms Race.

Real street racers race in traffic.

I do think the non-traffic races should be nerfed to give lower payouts though. Similar to free aim. Traffic takes more skill, therefore it deserves a bigger reward.

Traffic is fine if you are the HOST or have a good connection to the host.

If you have a sloppy connection to the host expect teleporting rubber banding traffic spawns.

The fact that traffic means that certain players will be able to lap faster because a car is or is not in the way of the best racing line means that having it can make it more luck than skill and can counterbalance the skill involved in weaving around it.

Certain courses it's fine, but when there's a lot of blind corners the luck factor gets multiplied by 100. Do you not take the best line because of the possibility of a car being around that blind corner? The chance is actually quite low so most of the time you'll take the normal line but every so often you will be screwed over but by not taking the 'risk' you will probably lose more often because of time lost.

Lag is yet another multiplier.

FasterThanYou

Traffic makes sense to introduce a hint of challenge in straight line highway stupid races.

In circuits with corners it´s not good. A race goes from being a contest to see who´s the fastest man, to "let´s see who gets luckier and gets the smaller number of randomly generated cars blocking the optimum line through corners".

Real street racers are despicable idiots that play with randoms lifes, and on top of that would be obliterated by any half clued track racer.

On the other part, you´re wrong. When everyone gets the same conditions, chances are the best will win. When you introduce random elements, the chances of the most skilled winning are lower. Skill levels are more directly related to wins in no-traffic than in traffic races.

So that's what causes this. Always wondered why traffic could be such a bitch for no reason at times and start spawning crap right in my face.

See what bugs me about traffic is the cars you hit turn into bricks, impossible to move them out the way if you collide like you can in free roam

I hate racing in traffic, it's not about skill at all because it's not the same for everyone, it's totally random. One guy gets passed an npc car but the stupid thing decides to make a turn right infront of you. One players hits a car and gets away with it but you hit all the chaos. You have the lead, the road is straight the traffic is minimal, you rear view to check your opposition and a dirty big van spawns right infront of you

It can be argued that real street racers race in traffic but for a start, they pick routes and time when there is almost none but more importantly, they die if they hit that streetlight that the guy infront of you has just hit. They're out of the race and broke if they so much as clout a kerb the wrong way. If you can complete a race in GTAo in 2 minutes, a real street racer would probably take 4 minutes to complete the same race because although they're abit crazy, they ain't mad.

I'd be all up for racing in traffic if R* were to give us real damage and by real damage, I don't mean a cosmetic dent, I mean hit the car infront going into a corner and your race is finished and so is your car, no $250 for Mors but, $20.000 for repairs and a gta week without it. If we had real damage, the way people in GTAo drive, you'd be lucky to see 2 of the 16 cars cross the finish line and I'd be all up for that.

I just wish there was a setting as to how much traffic there is like in gta 4

like light medium and heavy traffic or something

some races I want traffic but I don't want them completely jamming up certain sections of the race

edit: MART1001 are you insane

have you seen the way people drive in this game

I'd get about 10 races every week (considering 10 is the amount of cars I can have)

and all the griefers have like 21 Billion and would just buy a new car every race

Yes, good point and another example of why it's bullsh*t when people claim that cheaters don't affect others. My point was metaphoric though as to the racing in real life traffic. :)
