Petition to remove GTA Online Bad Sport system

Post below if you wish to have this broke-ass feature removed. A system where you get penalized for defending yourself, losing connection to the joke servers, backing out of lobbies, and generally messing around in a game all about messing around is completely broken. You can't even join games you're invited to. Absolutely joke-city.

What about people like me who got put into bad sport for sitting in their apartment and getting kicked for idling while they make a sandwich?

 

That's actually what put me in the bad sport pool, that and defending myself previously. But the day that it happened i had only played invite only sessions.

If the person who blows up my car pays for the insurance to get it back, that's all I need.

I notice they sometimes pay part of it, sometimes none. They should pay the full amount, every time.

Remove it because:

 

• Blowing up the car of somebody who is trying to kill you should not be penalized
• For the first 30 seconds Survival games don't tell you that you're out of bounds and kick you out without warning - adding to bad sport.
• Quitting Survival because you're dead and the last man standing with remaining helicopter has just been picking up weapons for the last 20 minutes should not be penalized.
• Quitting a game early because you're not having fun, or you're not very good should not be penalized.

Well than they should disable kicking in private lobbys. Or you know you can make a sandwich before starting a session or since it was invite only session you could quit it, make a sandwich, start a new session.

 

What`s going through my head right now is this "Let`s make a sandwich, oh I got kicked for AFK and god bad sport noticifation, I wonder if I do it again will it say the same thing?"

I personally think that bad sport should be removed, so I agree with OP, but there needs to be something else in place, not just a massacre of the innocent. They should have a system like they did in RDR:

 

Normal

Hardcore

Friendly

 

This solves problems by letting people who hate autoaim play in hardcore, and people who don't like being torn asunder by a tank play in friendly, which also prevents them from screwing other players, removing whiner hypocrites.

Sorry, but the whole point of a video game is to have fun. If I'm stuck in a mission and the last guy is not moving, I'm quitting out, not waiting 15 minutes for the mission to end. If you don't want the online mayhem, start a private session. Don't know why you're playing this game in the first place.

WARNING!! VERY LONG POST BELOW. IF YOU HAVE NO TIME FOR OPINION, PLEASE SKIP MY COMMENT.

 

The good sport bad sport system in essence was a flawless idea. When I read those four words I thought it would simply use algorithms and matchmaking to ensure that bad sports played with bad sports and good with good. Forever. So those who wish to shoot everyone they see can do so in a lobby full of everyone who is ready to fight and shoot on sight. And those who want to pull up next to another personal vehicle without getting a sticky bomb stuck up their arse can play with like minded and mannered people. Perfect in its design.

 

Now, I've never been a bad sport but I've certainly retaliated to some assholes and been severely punished for it with wanted stars, impounded cars, hefty death fines and a general bad mood. It has gotten to the point where if I see a yellow dot within my GPS when I enter a game. I switch servers. I am looking forward to more team based missions and maybe a game mode to cater for the wonderful car meets I've been involved in. Like a race but the team gets RP or money for driving in formations on highways and getting close without bumping bumpers or something. I want to have chilled out players.

 

I think the way the system was implemented is a dreadful dreadful oversight that really takes the point of GTA away from GTA. Its a game about crime and violence at its core and the 'dunce hat' mechanic really says that Rockstar doesn't want players to kill other players. But then flashed up a scoreboard when a player does so. So GTAO is massively confused right now. Two factions of players would solve the issue. Like I said using algorithms and matchmaking, set 'lone-rangers' (player killers) with players of their class and 'team-players' (good sports) with similar players.

 

You'd have a simple slider that starts at 0 and as you perform certain actions (killing players, blowing up PVs, ramming in races), your number goes sub zero. When that happens, you gradually become a lone ranger and increases your chances of being matchmade with other lone rangers. Conversely, if you pass players in free mode without killing them, allow other players to be passengers in your car, follow passenger waypoints (giving lifts/rides), your number will go above zero and you are matchmade with other team players. Of course you can always switch sides gradually if you choose to change your ways down the road sometime. And naturally it should be easier to become bad than it should to become good.

 

Anyway, these are my thoughts, this could well be my longest post yet. Sorry!!

They just need to adjust the thresholds so that it takes a pattern of behavior to get 'bad sport'. Quitting matches over and over, killings others over and over, etc.
