Before the patch, I think it was trying to take the fee from what they had on hand, and since nobody really runs around with cash on hand, they couldn't pay for it.

 

I think the patch makes it so it will take it from your bank now.

That's probably true. I recall being charged between $5,000 and $10,000 for the same car on multiple occasions.

people have always had to pay for your insurance if they had cash on them. if i had 9k in cash and 5mill in bank and i blew up friends adder itd take the 9k and hed still owe 1k.

 

if i had 5mill in bank and 0 in cash and blew it up he payd all 10k.

 

can anyone check to see if its the same as it ever was. or if it infact changed like the OP suggests and it checks only your bank now? I would love this change but im thinking maybe OP got lucky and the other guy just had cash so im not getting my hopes up.

A get the impression that sometime during development, they decided to add the Bad Sport thing for blowing up personal vehicles, because it was some huge inconvenience at that point. However, later in development, they changed the system to be what it is now, where they cover the entire cost and you make two phone calls and in about 45 seconds you have your vehicle back for free (even faster if you enter a job to teleport your car to you instead of using a mechanic).

 

It was no longer any inconvenience, but they simply didn't undo the previous implementation of giving Bad Sport for vehicle destruction.

 

It really makes no sense otherwise, so I'm going to guess this is what happened. It's the one legitimate thing people constantly bitch about that is actually bad enough to warrant bitching, because of all the nasty sh*t people do to f*ck me over, blowing up my car is something that doesn't even make the top 10 list. I can have a new one back to me fast enough to get away from them with it. And how the f*ck am I going to blame them when they couldn't have even known it was my personal vehicle?

 

You can't even destroy your friends' vehicles with their permission, as if the destruction of these vehicles has some kind of incredible significance to anyone. It's like, no one cares. All it does is make it harder to escape, but that'd be the same even if it wasn't a personal vehicle. I know some people who get their car blown up just immediately call Mors Insurance, replace the vehicle, then change sessions. In under a minute they're doing whatever they were doing as if nothing happened, with no danger present.

 

I don't know, it's mind-boggling that this made it past release. It's just annoying for everyone involved, and doesn't make sense from a design or balance point-of-view. It seems really awkwardly implemented and out of place.

 

I'm assuming there won't be too many more patches before it's removed. They'll probably leave it for missions either way, since that's cooperative and does actually make sense.
