I really, really wish the suspension was level in online instead of that weird forward-leaning stance. If it had that and the windshield wasn't stuck open it would be a great van but as it stands I can only really enjoy it in singleplayer where you can fix those things.

 

I honestly think the windshield thing was a mistake for several reasons. I'm pretty sure the van's forced to have both the open windshield and closed windshield extras enabled. Not only does that make no sense, but when I spawn the van in singleplayer it always has just one or the other. On top of that, the sunshade mod options are really weird with the windshield open all the time.
 

My theory is that the windshield was originally meant to be a regular mod part you could change at LS Customs, but they ran into a problem and had to change it to an extra. Specifically, I think the people working on the car discovered you can't properly change where window glass is with regular mod parts. I don't know if this is really a hard limit as I'm no modder, but I just tried shooting through the windows on the optional bedcap of a Yosemite Rancher in singleplayer and they don't break, so it might be. Obviously they didn't want the van to have a bulletproof windshield. Then they either tried to set it to always have the windshield closed or always have it opened, and accidentally set them both to be mandatory.

 

If I'm right, they probably can't let us change the windshield in LS Customs because of game limitations. Removing whatever flag forces the extras on would probably be pretty simple though. It still wouldn't be perfect, as you might have to buy a few Surfer Customs before you got one with the windshield you wanted, but it would be an improvement.

 

Sorry if this was an annoying or ranty post, it was just really bugging me for some reason.

 

LATE EDIT: In hindsight I think they probably could let us change the windshield in LS Customs, as I'm pretty sure there's other cars with mod options that enable or disable extras.
