HTF do you play TDM/DM with your friends!?

Am I missing something? I can't ever join a match and get the 2-4 friends I'm playing with into the room. Every time I join a game its either full or fills up before I can get invites out. When I host no one but my friends are ever filled into the room (WTF is the point of an open room?). Just want to be in free roam with my friends and jump from that into a lobby with all of them is this too hard? I rarely get to play with more than 1 of my friends at a time and TBH this games randoms SUCK, whats the point of this f*cking game if you can't play different game types with friends against people?

Hit start, go into online options, scroll down to lobby, change from open to closed. Now enjoy lobbies that are populated only by friends, no randoms getting stuck in before you can even send out invites.

I want to play against randoms though, just with a group of my friends. It's just ducking stupid there's not an option or button I put you as a group into a lobby. f*ck this game.
