GamesBoy316
I think it's best to stay away from Niko if he's in a situation like this, he wouldn't take sh*t from anyone besides the people he cares about. Mysteriousic3
Yes I did... I believe that they went on a job, only before the job packie heard from Francis bragging that he got some immigrant scumbag to take out some junkie who was an idiot, in light of this I believe that during the job Nino gets trapped/wounded and is left for dead, indicating that packie just got here from lc, not having a car but referring to A boy instead of his main man- right before mentioning his name- Niko, makes me think this is a likely scenario speculating that packie no longer talks with gusto in his voice as he refers to Niko as he did before, even going as far as challenging the mentor of his LIFE Gerald against Niko. This makes an emphasis.
Watain
Niko is most likely alive. The whole story set around Niko was about an ex-criminal who wanted to move on with life and go straight. "Perhaps here things will be different...", remember? Obviously during the IV storyline, his life continued down the same path anyway, until the end of the game, where we can presume that his life finally could move on along a different and better path, although filled with sorrow. Perhaps Niko killed himself down the line because he was tired and lonely, but I don't really think he's that kind of man. As everyone already pointed out, Lester pretty much confirmed that Niko just moved on with a silent lifestyle, just like Niko aimed for. Packie would clearly not know any status on Niko, either. When the end credits of the Ballad of Gay Tony rolled, we saw Packie entering Francis International Airport, obviously leaving Liberty City right after IV's storyline was finished. Packie was also eager to make more money by criminal activities, still hungry after the bank job and the diamond fiasco, and Niko only wanted out of that lifestyle. With that said, it's not surprising at all that Packie and Niko most likely cut their criminal partnership, and them moving on in different directions and losing all contact with each other. Packie also explains in GTA V how he's been trying to get things going in Los Santos, but that he can't find any good people to help him out. So, yeah, my conclusion is that we get a confirmation that Niko, in the end, got what he wanted during the course of IV - a quiet, normal life. It's just like we see how Johnny Klebitz and the Lost left all their sh*t in Liberty City behind, to try and seek better luck in San Andreas... I guess that goes for Luis Lopez as well. He's probably just living a rather quiet life somewhere working/owning clubs without too much drama.

Progeekzy
I know the last time i saw my Niko he had a fairly nice pent house that someone was nice enough to fall on a bullet so Niko could have it. He had half a million dollars to his name and some nice cars. His girlfriend that didint put out was dead, sure. But Niko had no reason to return to the life of crime. He had it made. He still goes out and has a few beers with his cousin. Dead? no. Dormant, maybe.
Nah nah nah Gta 6
I doubt Lester was referring to Niko in the jewel store setup, Niko isn't the only eastern european in Liberty city, that line is simply a nod to him, but not actually to him. I doubt Niko would be dead, who would want to kill him anyways? He pretty much killed his main enemies (Pegorino and Dimitri), also Niko isn't as rough or drug addicted as Johnny, and I doubt Niko would do drugs (unless he got severly depressed over Romans death, which I don't think is canon). Shadowfennekin
Niko's not dead. He retired from the criminal life and is trying to live a normal life with his cousin Roman Bellic. Packie and Niko probably haven't spoken in awhile so he assumes Niko might be dead. "Gone quiet" was just a jab that his actor's gone. Algonquin Assassin
I doubt Lester was referring to Niko in the jewel store setup, Niko isn't the only eastern european in Liberty city, that line is simply a nod to him, but not actually to him.. "There was an Eastern Eutopean guy making moves in Liberty City...nah he went quiet". Yeah he's not the only Eastern European in Liberty City, but it's both obvious enough considering the other references to Niko in the game and subtle without referring to him by name. GamesBoy316
Niko isn't dead. I'm sure Rockstar wanted to have him return, but they could only make references. Remember that North Yankton DLC "Leak" back in late 2013, that said Niko was going to be a playable character? Too bad it turned out to be fake, that would have been cool. Homicidal Hipster
He's alive and well, driving cabs for Roman Bellic express car service. He no longer has to look over his shoulder, all of the people that wanted him dead are gone, so I imagine he's now a law abiding citizen with no criminal connections. Nah nah nah Gta 6
Personally, I think Niko's life is up to the player, since he is the main character of the GTA IV trilogy, the endings were also player's choice aswell, even if Niko's voice actor was still ok with R*, I don't think he would or returned, just like Luis.
