Stimulus package and the in game economy

R* has stated that we will be getting the money blah blah blah, and they have also stated not to spend it all at once because it will screw up the in game economy? A few questions pertaining to that...

 

1) How badly will it affect the stock market?

 

2) Will anyone really follow their orders and not spend it all at once? (Unless you already have your apartment and favorite vehicles etc.)

 

3) (see question 1) How can we rig it to our advantage?

They were just being cute in saying "dont spend it all at once!" Rockstar may be getting a huge influx of people saying "I spent all my money and now its GONE, wtf glitch"

 

I'm just going to buy a Super class car and mod the f*ck out of it and then probably never drive it.

2) Surely some of these R* loyals will do exactly as momma R* tells them.

 

3) To get the most out of your 2 installments of 250 K I would suggest investing all of it into the stock markets once they go live and we know more about them.

When did they say it would mess up the economy? I'm pretty sure there isn't technically an economy because no money actually goes back into the "economy" it just kind of comes out of thin air and as disappear as well.

I love speculation! Makes the economy that much more real! Please speculate! And I plan on investing a decent sum of it in stocks, but need some tips on where to head. I understand how the stock market works and everything(sort of), but I just want names of companies that people can see rising or that I can short sell, or are about to sky rocket..

 

And to argue your comment about how the stock market doesn't apply to GTAO, then what is the point of the BAWSAQ? I understand it is controlled by other single players, but I thought it was also controlled by online also.

Aka, players dump a lot of money in what looks like a no brainer choice, and then, it crashed to 1929 levels out of the blue. Ahh well, you can always buy our cash cards and try again.

Why would they do that? So people buy cash cards? I think this is really to apologize(although it isn't needed) for the issues with online which is what they have stated. I really really doubt this is a grandiose marketing scheme. I think it would be a lot easier for them to just take away players money randomly and blame it on a bug rather than give us money, expect us to invest, then go to work on that...make sense?

I don't want to sound like an asshole and I am not trying to start a fight, but I don't feel that GTAO even has an economy. Having come from playing many full-fledged MMO games, a single stock market does not equate to an economy for me. We have no influence over the worth of the dollar in GTAO. If we could somehow influence the value of the dollar, then we would have an economy. The same cars will cost the same amount forever and the same weapons will always cost the same amount. Nothing we do with our money is going to change anything but stock prices. I don't want to get into inflation, but the bottom line is there is no economy in the game. There is a stock market that does nothing but add or subtract money from your own personal bank account. Nothing more, nothing less.

Okay very very true. What I mean by 'economy' (and I know this is definitely not the same thing) is the stock market. And those are the only prices that fluctuate

Personally seems a bit cheeky to me. "We'll give you money but don't spend it on something useful like a safehouse or a garage. No, instead hang onto it, fritter it into the stockmarket which will probably drain all your assets and cause you to be so skint you'll need to buy our cashcards".

Personally, I'll probably buy a house, as it takes me so long to accumulate cash on my own. I'm not as adept online as some of the hardcore players out there, lol.
