How much money do you drop when you die?

Now, i know you loose 100 anyway. But, say for example, your holding 1000, can the player pick up that amount of money off you, or is it less. What i'm thinking is its 10% of how much or something. For example, if your holding 1000, then the player will get 100, but if your holding 100,000 the person who killed you can pick up 10,000. What do you guys think/know??

I always thought if you had less than $5,000 on you it takes a percentage away from that, and if you had more it took 5% out of your bank for hospital bills. Not entirely sure about that though.

Most I think I dropped was around 150 dollars and I was carrying almost 60k at the time. Only know that, because my brother-in-law pistol whipped me while trying to shoot someone in a car. I came back and picked up my cash.

There are a million things like this we have no exact idea about because there is no official information and I for one am not going to be testing out how much money I lose by holding different amounts. Lose too much money for EVERYTHING you do anyway. In a public session you are better off to have no money at all. Buy a ton of ammo and have at em' because if you go in a public freeroam lobby with money one thing is for sure. You won't have that money when you leave

No you didn't. You might have lost more than that, if you didn't have enough money in your bank account to cover your hospital fees. You only dropped $100, however.

 

I've experimented with this quite a bit. No matter how much money the other person has on them, they only drop $100.

 

The mugger (an ability you call Lamar for) can be used to steal money people are holding. However, no matter how much they are holding, he will only steal a maximum of $2000. Additionally, the other person always just kills the mugger to take their money back. If you want the money, you have to kill the mugger yourself.

 

Considering how hard it is to successfully do all this in the first place, how easy it is for them to get it back from the mugger, and how anyone can deposit their money at any time using their phone, the mugger should really take however much they have on them.

 

Clearly something here is not working as intended, since the game warns you that you're holding a lot of money whenever you get more than $5000. If the maximum you could ever have stolen was $2000, it seems like they'd warn you when you hit that value instead.

 

Hopefully Rockstar will fix whatever is currently broken. Until then, I'll continue keeping all of my money on me, because there's no reason not to.

you Always drop 100 it seems

at least whenever I kill some1 I pick up 100

and when I die I lose 100 plus medical bills I think

Everyone should know this by now. For the record, it's always $100 cash you drop and medical fees are about 5% of whatever amount you have in the bank (capped at $5000). If you don't have £100 in cash you don't drop anything.

 

If you had a cajillion dollars in cash, you would still only drop $100.

I dropped $150 yesterday when my bud accidentally ran me over.

 

I spawned and went to get my car, money still there. +$150 flashed as I collected

Either the only $100 is entirely untrue, or I have seen it glitch multiple times. I have a crew member that loves "accidents" and he always reports how much he took off my corpse and I know there have been a couple of times it has been upwards of $400.I have also picked up larger amounts after gunning someone down but rarely is it more than 100.
