Can't use a weapon whilst in a vehicle?

Has anyone else had this problem?

 

It happens in story mode as well as online. I've tried using other controllers. But when I press L1 nothing happens. I've tried with guns and grenades but it just won't work. But works fine when on foot.

 

If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated. :)

Click Square to change weapon as you're most likely unarmed swearing at everyone instead of shooting them all the time :lol:

Yeah, always press square whilst in a car. It's usually default and will automatically go back to swearing with your middle finger when you actually want to shoot out of the car.

I've done that, I've tried using every weapon I have that can be used in a car. I can change weapon, just having trouble firing.

as a passenger L1 is the button for aiming and R1 is for shooting.. but if you are the driver L1 should work.. did you buy the game on PSN? might be a corrupt file

I preordered it from Game and got an actual copy . I have a years guarantee so I might just take it back if no one can help.

I had the same problem. I fixed it on multiplayer by hosting my own GTA styled race and once it said ( Weapons Available) I ended the game and went back to multiplayer and I was able to shoot out of my car again.

You are a saint, and a genius at the same time. Just to get over my angst in disbelief of this wierd bug and and attempt multiple phrases to describe the same problem I had been having is one thing. To actually find someone part of the .01% of the population thats probable to have this issue as well, and PATIENT enough to wait around for responses in effort to help solve it is another.

 

Cheers to the guy who started this forum! And gL to everyone shifting through 100 completely irrelevant forum posts listed on google for every 1 question answered!

Some geniuses on here. I had this problem this morning and I didn't know WTF to do. Thought I had to redo my entire garage or something drastic. Starting a GTA race worked. lol. Weird problem but thanks for the solution.

A BIG thanks for this solution. Just had the issue happen to me today and I couldn't figure out what the problem was. Luckily a Google search found this thread and your instructions fixed the glitch. I wonder how that screw-up happens though?

 

Not sure why I'm considered a "Player Hater" under my image. That does not describe me at all.

Ive had this problem too, tried everything, deleted the game and started again, started a new game, took the game back for a new copy but still couldnt shoot from the car, tried that start a race online tip and never worked either. Couldnt play any missions because of one where i needed to shoot a guy from the car so almost returned the game. But then when i randomly looked at the controlls in the options menue it said that to shoot you would aim and shoot..... So i held L1 and pressed R1 at the same time and then i could shoot! Im playing the game on the ps4 so theyve changed the controls instead of just pressing L1 to shoot, but you can change it back in the controlls menue. Hope that helps!

Cone head bruh look at the time stamps before you post, these were for the ps360 versions and are totally unrelated to your lack of ability to troubleshoot. If I were you I'd delete the comments in both the threads you posted it in and leave internet be for a little while.

Permanent fix UPDATE!! After hosting GTA race online, quickly shoot out the window and switch back to story mode with any character. Hop in a vehicle and shoot out of car window then do a quick save. Permanent FIX!
