Prison instead of Bad Sport lobbies?

OK as of now when ppl are deemed a bad sport R* sends them to sessions with other bad sports. Basically, you want to act like an ass and ruin the fun of others? Do it in a session with other ppl who want to do the same. Problem is bad sport doesnt really fit the theme of GTA imo. Bad sport for destroying someones' car? Even tho they have insurance and YOU pay the bill? Kinda silly imo. There is passive mode, invite only sessions, etc ppl can use to avoid the trolls so is this really needed? Regardless, its a part of the game so now the question is how about making the concept more fun and fitting? What I mean is how about instead of Bad Sport only sessions R* sends the trolls to prison? Here is what I mean...

 

Basically whenever you reach the threshold of accumilative acts that would normally result in bad sport lobbies the game would send you to prison instead. This means every time you get online you will spawn inside the prison instead. You will be forced to wear the orange prison clothes and can only free roam inside the prison. You will remain here until your sentence has finished.

 

Now let me talk about the actual system that determines bad sport or in this case going to prison. Im not entirely sure how the current bad sport system works under the hood but a more fitting way to handle it imo is to add an additional stat bar to the already existing ones. What I mean is we have Stamina, Shooting, Stealth, Flying, Driving and Mental State. R* could add an additional bar title "Crime Level". Now this can be name something else but for now this is what I'll title it. This stat will have 3 levels or visually 3 blocks to fill. Here is how each level will work.

 

LEVEL 1 = Fine - Every bad sport act done will add to the 1st block of this stat. Continue and the block will fill further. To decrease the filling of this block you must not commit any bad sport acts for a set time. The punishment for bad sport acts done within this block is a fine. The more you fill up the block the bigger the fine will be. Once the block is completely full you will be move to level 2.

 

 

Level 2 = Probation/Parole - Once you reaches this level you will receive a probation term of 24 real life hours. During this probation term you will be prohibited from buying and using major weapons (rifles and explosives) as well as weaponized vehicles. You will also receive a probation officer as a contact in your phone. They will call you at random times offering you community service missions to do like picking up trash, painting over graffiti, etc. You do not have to do these missions but this will help drop your level faster earning you an early release from probation (the more missions you do the faster you will get off probation). Once you have successfully complete the probation term you will drop back down to level 1 and can buy major weapons again. If you continue to do bad sport acts while on this level you will fill the 2nd block of this stat and be move to level 3.

 

 

Level 3 = Prison - Once this level is reached you will immediately get a 5 star wanted level. This wanted level will never go away until you're caught so if you log off without getting caught and log on the next day you will still have the 5 star wanted level. Your apartment and garages will be locked and surrounded by police. Your blip will blink red and blue so others in the session will know you are wanted. Ppl can either help the cops or help you. To help the cops you waste the fugitive in their sight which would result in their arrest and you a cash reward. To help the fugitive you just kill the cops (helping the fugitive will result in a 5 star wanted level for you). You will not have access to crew, friend or invite only sessions. You will not be allowed to do jobs or buy weapons. When the fugitive is finally caught he will spawn inside the prison.

 

A 1st time prison sentence is 24 real hours. The time does not pass while not online. Everytime you get online you will spawn inside the prison. You will only be allowed to free roam inside the prison (R* would of course need to add prison building interiors with cells, cafeteria, etc). The prison map will be just like the city map as far as having multiple icons on it for things to do such as prison missions, deathmatches, survival, fights, arm wrestling, chess, basketball, etc. so it wont just be aimlessly roaming around a prison shanking other prisoners.

 

Instead of a phone you will get a note pad like in LA Noir (of course options like internet, snapamatic, etc will be unavailable). As for mission offers, these can come from guards or inmates. Guards will give you missions to earn an early release such as mopping a small area, cleaning toilets, unloading trucks, transporting laundry baskets, washing dishes, passing out food trays to inmates locked in isolation cells, etc. You don't have to do these missions but doing them will earn you an early release. NPC inmates will also offer missions. These wont award you an early release but could result in benefits outside the prison once you are released like for example discounts at LSC for protecting a guy connected to LSC or discounts at Ammunition for assassinating someone.

 

 

Prison Breaks - Cant have a prison without the ability to break out right? These break outs will be done with a series of setups like the heists with the finale being the actual break out. There are two ways to execute a break out...

 

Breakouts - Other players break you out from the outside. They must be in your crew or at least your CEO organization or MC.

 

Escapes - You escape from the inside. Other inmates can help you escape as well as you can help others and you do not have to be in the same crew, CEO or MC.

 

As mentioned above these breakouts will be done like heists with setups and a finale. If your crew is breaking you out they must do the setups in freemode and you just wait for the finale. If you are escaping from the inside then you must do the setups yourself and the finale with the help of other inmates who are also on their escape finale. Either way, once the prisoner successfully escapes he will again have a never ending 5 star wanted level (blip blinking blue/red) until caught. When the fugitive is caught he will return to prison and recieve an extra day of punishment.

 

 

Lets say you cant find help to escape or you just want to do your time. Once your time is up you will be released on parole (level 2). This will work the same as probation meaning you will not be allowed to buy or use major weapons or use weaponized vehicles, you will get a parole officer as a contact and like the probation officer the parole officer will give you random community service missions to do. Again, you do not have to do these missions but if you do them it will lower your level faster helping you get off parole faster. Thoughts?

America's Army had a feature where you could get Court Marshalled if you disobey a direct order or kill a friendly. The only thing you could do is sit in your cell and do push ups while serving your time. Guess how long that game's popularity lasted.

We could have minigames in prison, which I'm serious about: Shower Time (description: you're in the prison shower with other players and you choose to drop the soap, and the other players will be alerted that you dropped the soap and NPCs or players can rape you while you bend down.) Confrontation (description: you confront a rival or allied gang). Or you go to Riot (description: you, other players, and NPCs riot against the prison guards, or attack other gangs). Gym Workout (you can lift dumbbells, and much more.) And there will be a Cafeteria, Prison Cells, you wear an orange jumpsuit, there will be a library, and room to visit and call friends.

This will allow people to kill us unexpectedly, and they would simply be able to abuse something like pausing their game, or using their vehicle as defense(which already occurs).

This idea is awful and helps nothing.

 

You want to punish people for killing you. Understandable, but an easier way of doing this would be for R* to just implement free roam lobbies where you simply cannot kill other players. No need for this to take the fun out of the game.

I think its a cool idea in theory, and maybe the first time it happens.. but once im trying to have fun with my friends and get sent to jail ima be like screw this and turn the game off.

Nobody is gonna learn their lesson like this. How about instead of Bad Sport only sessions R* sends them to Prison with other bad sports? Basically whenever they get online they will spawn inside the prison with prison clothes on and can only free roam inside the prison for 24 hours. Here is my idea on it.

 

1st, I think the Bad Sport title should be a stat like shooting, driving, etc. It can be visible or hidden its up to R*. It will have 3 blocks instead of 5 like the stats. The 1st block is level 1, 2nd block is level 2 and 3rd block is level 3. You raise or lower this stat with BP (behavior points). You gethttp://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/didnt-read.gif negative BP by doing bad acts like destroying ppls cars, killing ppl who are on the pause menu, running over ppl who are on passive mode, quitting, etc. This will raise the level of the stat. You get positive BP by doing good acts which will lower the stat. I'll explain how to get positive BP besides simply behaving good further down.

 

OK now onto the system. I think there needs to be an official bad sport system which includes probation and jail. Here is what I had in mind.

 

Level 1 = Fine - Any bad sport act done on this level will result in a huge fine. If you killed someone on passive mode or who was on the pause menu you will also have to pay their medical bills. If you destroyed someone's car you will also have to pay the insurance bill.

 

Level 2 = Probation - Once your bad sport stat reaches this level you will receive a fine, get stripped of your major weapons (rifles and explosives) and receive a probation term for 48 hours. You will receive a probation officer as a contact. They will give you random community service missions to do like picking up trash, painting over graffiti, etc. You do not have to do these missions but if you do them you will get positive BP which will lower your bad sport stat to level 1 after you compete the probation period. If you successfully complete the 48 hour probabtion period without any bad sport actions you are off probation and will be allowed to use major weapons again. If you did community service during your probation period your bad sport stat will be dropped to level 1. If you didn't then the next time you do a bad sport act your stat will rise to level 3.

 

Level 3 = Prison - Once you reach this level you will immediately recieve a wanted level (not the full red map just the cops with sight cones). This wanted level will never go away until they catch you. You will not be allowed to do jobs. Your blip will blink red and blue so others on the map will know you are wanted and can help http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/didnt-read.gif they choose. If they help the cops they will not receive wanted levels for shooting you but will receive positive BP. If they help you tho they will of course receive a wanted level. When you are finally caught you will be stripped of all your weapons and spawn inside the prison.

 

Here is how the prison would work. A prison sentence is 24 real hours. Whenever you get online during this sentence you will spawn inside the prison (your cell, in the rec yard, etc depending on the time of day you get online). You will only be allowed to free roam inside the prison (R* would of course need to add prison interiors). It will be just like the city map tho as far as having multiple icons for things to do such as missions, deathmatches, survival, fights, chess,. basketball, etc. so it wont just be roaming around a prison.

 

Instead of a phone you will get a note pad like in LA Noir (will function the same ashttp://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/didnt-read.gifthe phone. the notepad just makes more sense with jail). While roaming, besides the markers to certain inmates who will offer you missions you will also get mission offers from the guards and even the warden. Examples are mopping, cleaning toilets, unloading trucks, transporting laundry baskets, passing out food trays to inmates locked in the holes, etc. You don't have to do these missions but doing them will gain you positive BP which will help earn you an early release (1/2 day max).

 

Once released you will be on parole. This will work the same as probabtion as far http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/didnt-read.gif you will receive a parole officer as a contact and not be allowed to use major weapons. Also, like probabtion officers the parole officers will give you random community service missions to do. Again, you do not have to do these missions but if you do them you will get positive BP which will lower your bad sport stat to level 2 and get you off parole. Screw up again while on parole tho and you will be wanted and sent back to prison. This time for 48 hours.

Please explain what you mean by allowing ppl to kill us unexpectedly. As far as using vehicles as defense I can see that as a problem if someone has bullet proof tires and full armor. In that case blowing up the car should be allowed.

I've never been put into bad sport.

But everything I've read on it is f*cked. It totally ruins the feel of GTA if you have to hesitate everytime you're trying to defend yourself because some cockholster wants to kill you over and over.

As I've sad before, these systems never work because there is no way to calculate a player's intentions behind their actions.

Yeah me and a few buddies discussed this in a chat but I didn't post it as I thought it would be getting too far ahead of myself. We did talk a good while about it tho. Something on the lines of you can either break out from inside or have your buddies set up a break out from the outside.

 

To break out from inside you contact or will be contacted by one of the inmates. If you accept you ignite the mission. You'll then lobby up with other bad sports and do the mission. There could be multiple ways to break out ranging from loud and dumb to smart and technical.

 

To break your buddies out you can call Lester to set it up. Then lobby up with the crew and break him/them out. Just like breaking out the missions can be done in multiple ways ranging from loud and dumb to smart and technical.

 

It should be very hard either way tho. If successful the prisoner will be wanted for the rest of his term so if you did 12 of the 24 hours already then you will be wanted for 12 hours. You would not be able to go home nor will you be able to shop at ammunition while wanted and your dot on the map would be orange. Being a fugitive would be just like I explained how being wanted would go. Cops with sight cones would search for you for the remaining of your time. If they catch you then you will go back to prison and your time would start over.

Not gonna learn? My friend went on a tank spree a 2 days ago, and got bad sport because some guy kept driving their personal vehicle into the back of the tank causing it to blow up. We both use Free Aim, and the Free aim bad sport servers are almost always empty, most he found was 1 or 2 players. He then switched to assisted Aim, and ran into dozens of high level kiddos who waited for him to get out of the LS customs so they could sticky his car. From his description, Bad sport servers sound like hell.

As some people do currently with the system that is already in place. They kill you while doing something else, run away. Go in passive mode. Or in the case you're proposing, kill us and pause the game.

 

Anyways, the game would be better off with separate *aggressive* lobbies and *passive* lobbies. Your idea, while definitely a good way of punishing some annoying people, would make the game boring and less fun(even for the people who you think is deserving of it). Plus, it's an awful idea unless you know how to correctly and accurately identify who is defending themselves.

Then there wouldn't be a point in the prison system.

 

I think there still could be a point, because if they manage to escape then a non removable bounty could be placed on their head and an ongoing police search sent out until they're captured or killed and respawn in their cell. If they keep breaking out then their sentence increases.
