DisasterMaster13
I think the d-pad on my 360 controller doesn't work right because when I press left or right it keeps bringing up the phone. This is also preventing me from entering cheats. Can anyone tell me how to make the d-pad work?

customkingpimp
Try a different controller, or get a new one, they are only like 20-30 bucks.
Ash_735
Plus it's a known fact the default D-Pad on the Xbox 360 sucks ass, try and get the newer controllers with the twisty D-Pad if you want a slightly improved D-Pad on that console. Tacymist
360's dpad is sh*t, you have to be careful at times when pressing on it because its design is absolutely horrid. If you're finger is even marginally close to the area between the Right and Up button on the dpad, it'll think you're trying to hit Up. Try to keep your finger closer to the far right of the dpad when you want to hit Right. Doing that makes it happen less often for me.
TXF
The D-Pad on 360 controller isn't great. Your best bet is to get one of the new ones that allow you to twist the D-Pad to change the shape a bit, or to find some 3rd party controller that has a different one. Honestly, I never had a problem with it, but I know some people do. It's mainly because it's just a single chunk of round plastic. I've gotten used to it, so that's probably why I'm fine with it.
