esmittystud101
Do you think Gamestop will offer an extended warranty for it?

darthYENIK
After Xbox 360, Microsoft SHOULD offer two years free of charge. Most 360s that I know that RRoD'd did so within the second year of ownership. It's not a matter of comparing XB1's hardware to 360's, but it's a matter of instilling confidence in the consumer. My disc drive broke 3 years into ownership, and I would have gladly paid $50 at purchase as opposed to $100 for MS to repair it. I'd suggest everyone get an extended warranty with the purchase of a console within the first year of launch. That goes for Playstation and Nintendo, as well. My Red Ring of death hit like 2-3 years in. I purchased my 360 at Best Buy and when I took it in they basically were like we are giving you so and dollars in store credit. So I basically got a new one right then and there. Which was sweet. My 360 was yellow too. I used to smoke cigaretts back then and it made it yellow as sh*t. My buddy worked at Best Buy too and was like " I can't believe were taking back a 360 thats yellow, look at that thing" LOL
Mr Rabbit
After Xbox 360, Microsoft SHOULD offer two years free of charge. This might sound cynical, but the timing of the RRoD's in a console's lifespan really says to me that they will do the same standard warranty as last time, because the customers will likely buy the console again, as the history of the last generation proved with YLOD and RROD. Therefore more money. This isn't me ragging on Microsoft, I would expect the same kind of thing from Sony, or any big company. darthYENIK
I think that's probably the case, as well. It's pretty slimy if you ask me.
ryuclan
Microsoft are rushing this thing out and they are changing things late in the game which means disaster usually. They are so bent on beating PS4 in power and whatnot that they are damn near bricking their own system trying to get it to perform better. Honestly I would wait a bit before purchasing one or, like you said, find a place that will offer an extended warranty. Best Buy is good for that, Walmart does it often with electronics as well. Although I don't want XB1 to have any issues the way they are rushing and tweaking it may be pretty bad at launch.

Anyone looking to buy an Xbox one, I would wait a month, at minimum, to see how many people are binning them, because this is sounding like a disaster to me. Remember when Sony was having problems with the PS3 and they delayed it? That's what Microsoft should do if they want something reliable. As for me? Well i'm not buying either console for a time, I don't really want one yet and i'm not going to buy it for the sake of having it because of issues that are possibly going to crop up, and I am running out of space for all the Sony devices! But seriously, I want to wait and see if the consoles are halfway reliable. I have faith in Sony since I haven't had a console of theirs break on me (except me falling on top of it) so hopefully they will, once again - create something - reliable.
