'Bad Sport' overhaul: Do you agree with these suggestions?

I appreciate what the 'Bad Sport' system is trying to accomplish, as griefers and other a-holes can really impact gameplay. However, there are a few serious problems with the way it is currently setup:

1. I have had the game completely lock up my console several times while in the middle of a Job. This obviously causes me to leave in the middle of a mission, and when I boot back up I have a message saying I've been a 'bad sport'.
2. I should be able to defend myself in Free Mode. I watched a guy drive up on several other players shooting them from his car. He then turned on me, and since I knew exactly what he was going to do I shot him in the head before he got the chance to kill me. I received a 'bad sport' warning.
3. Do people get 'bad sport' for running over other players? I wouldn't know because I don't do it, but it seems like you should get 'bad sport' for doing so.
4. I never go around killing other players in Free Mode, or trash their cars, and I never leave missions/races/matches without completing them. And yet, because of the current 'bad sport' system, my characters face is all scarred up and I wonder how close I am to getting a dunce cap or worse. Something is wrong with this system.

Solution: If someone is doing things to get themselves a 'bad sport' rating, other players shouldn't get 'bad sport' for killing them (at least a 5 minute window, or something like that). In other words, players should only get a 'bad sport' for killing 'good sports' and neutrals. This would allow us to defend ourselves.

It should take a lot of leaving in the middle of a Job to get a 'bad sport' rating, e.g. a pattern of behavior. The game is currently somewhat unstable, as it locks up on me almost every night. And wireless internet connections sometimes disconnect for no apparent reason. The system needs to be able to account for this sort of thing, otherwise it is penalizing good players.

And finally, there should be a way to voluntarily join a 'bad sport' session, for those times when you just want to blow off steam and massacre other players. Voluntarily joining a 'bad sport' session should temporarily suspend your own 'bad sport' ranking.

I agree. I just recently got put in a bad sport lobby, but I really do NOT ever kill anyone else unless they kill or try to kill me. Unless I'm playing a Deathmatch or any other competitive mode, all my kills are self defense, and I HATE that I get punished for it.

I just went to a survival mission. it starts off with me already being dead and it counts down to exit the mission. after a 15 minute view of clouds, I spawn and get a message about being a bad sport for leaving missions...ARE YOU f*ckING KIDDING ME?

 

the clusterpuck of a game screws up and then punishes you because IT screwed up? fix this BROKE ASS SYSTEM! along with the cover system that leaves you running in circles at times and the ladder system that has you dive bombing off the roof when you try to climb down and then wont stop climbing up or down when you just want to stand next to one and fire your weapon.

Yeah, they should probably disable 'bad sport' for leaving Jobs altogether until the game is more stable.

You definitely get 'bad sport' for killing other players in Free Mode, although maybe not if you are in a car or kill someone with your car? Not sure about that. But I get a 'bad sport' warning every time I defend myself against someone.

I have shot many players and ran them over in game and never got the warning. Killed players in their cars as they drove by me, or tried to run me over. Never blew up any of thier cars, while doing it though. Only warning I got was leaving a mission, guess I am lucky.

 

What gets me is cops are slow to respond to player shootings. I love to play get away from the police.

 

 

 

R* should release notes on how the system works, so we knows what the rules are. Then we can tell if they are working correctly or not

Yes, they should definitely release specific rules, and also show a 'bad sport' meter, at least on social club.

As far as I'm aware you only get bad sport for leaving a missions and blowing up player's personal vehicles.
