When should Bad Sport be applied?

I think that the Bad Sport concept is good in principle. The punishment is effective and removes 'Bad Sports' from other players, temporarily removing the grief and perhaps discouraging it in future.

However, the game mechanic to detect Bad Sports is all wrong at the moment, most agree.

What do you personally think should count as 'Bad Sport' behaviour and can you describe how the game could monitor this?

An example, which is already in place and I agree with, is:

- If a player repeatedly drops out of mini-games. (death matches, races, tennis.) The game can count the number of drop outs in a certain period of time.

Maybe bad sports are just constant dicks.

I blew up my friends ride on a job and got a warning. But no bad sport. Why? Because I don't do it repeatedly. Idiots that are CONSTANT assholes get punished.

• When a person leaves Jobs mid-game

• When a person leaves Minigames mid-game

• When killing a team mate in Missions/Team Deathmatch (is that even possible to do?)

• When driving a Lap Race in the wrong direction (to possibly collide with others)

• When killing a person who is in Passive Mode (with a car for example)

You sure about that? I was just in a server with someone driving around killing everyone and blowing up all the cars and he got nothing... I'm sad now... my car is gone...

I think a Bad Sports-meter has to be filled up to become a Bad Sports.

This meter will degrade over time, so if you do bad stuff and then calm down for a while, you can stay away from becoming Bad Sport.

Things that can fill the Bad Sport-meter, destroying peoples personal vehicles, leaving Missions mid-game, Killing someone in Passive, AND getting Bad Sport-report by Players.

It should be a longer process though, and you would not become a Bad Sport until at least TWO conditions are met, in which one is being reported as a Bad Sport by another player.

You'd need to say how the game can identify this behaviour and monitor it though?

Pinkiepie - agreed about the Bad sports-o-meter filling up currently. It would also be good if you could see stats before playing with a player, particularly in some events, for example:

If I was playing tennis with someone that had Played 4, Won 1, Lost 0 and Dropped out of 3, I'd be very wary!

got warning from self-defense, there was bounty on me and someone was coming behind me. Blew him up with sticky bomb and got bad sports warning. it definitely needs some configuration

So that seems clearly wrong. Do you think there is a way the game can monitor "bad behaviour" via player v player interaction in free-roam?

I Agree, except the report function. It can be abused, "Oh they sniped me!"...."REPORT". But yeah there should be a Meter and a number of how many "Bad Sports" you have. I Personally think "Bad Sport" sucks and shouldn't exist in pvp. PVP is a bad sport according to many non-pvpers so It's unfair to pvpers.

Passive mode should be relabled PVP Mode and PVP Mode off should make that person and there vehicles completely immune to damage and other players and there vehicles completely immune to them.

This way pvpers and non-pvpers can play together.

Bad sport is stupid you should be able to blow peoples sh*t up and not get in trouble for it.... And as for leaving games they should make it like COD where if you leave to many games you get a timeout before being able to play anymore.

The Thing is, that person cannot become a Bad Sport only be being Reported.

He/She has to have his bad Sports-meter filled as well , by destroying people's personal vehicles, Leaving Missions mid-game, Killing passive players etc..

Having Bad-Sport reports only won't do anything, but having a Report is one Condition to become Bad Sport.

If you have Killed alot of Passives, Left alot of Missions Mid-game, Destroyed alot of Personal Vehicles (with the bad sports-meter filled), you won't become a Bad Sport until someone actually reports you as well. :)

What the Meter does though, is making so you can behave badly a bit, and then act good the next day, allowing the Bad Sports-meter to degrade (it needs to be at Max and you getting a Report to actually become Bad Sport).

What if we match players by K/D ratio instead of using bad-sports. Or in addition to it maybe. Then those who dont want deathmatch gameplay would be matched and those who favor it too.

Then trolls would put bounties on each other and blow up cars. :/

had a buddy accidently drive my car into a river and he became a bad sport for just that. He wasnt even on for the last 2 days so now he cant even doing anything with his friends for the next 2 days just because of driving a friends car into a river on accident. This really needs fixed. im scared to even pull out my gun now.

No, which is why a system like this doesn't work.

But Passive mode is broke, your not really passive if another player can run you over. If they fixed pvp mode there will be no need of Bad sport and bad sport free roam. One friend who Loves pvp can play together with another friend who hates pvp. Everyone will be happy.

This would, in theory, put all the killers with other killers and all the pacifists together too. Only problem is that I do like a mix, so that there is a chance of meeting a psycho but most of the time you'll meet behaved citizens (unless you upset them!)

Lots of people are saying bad sport and passive mode is broken but, to make it better than it already is, the rules need to be defined. Any suggestions?

As there would be a set K/D limit, say 0,5, there would always be the option of occasionally "going psycho". It's not to be a totally pacifist mode.

True. This might actually suit me to be honest, lol, but there could be other complications such as if your friends are a different K/D limit - not being able to play together...
