What do 'C' and 'F' mean?

When in free roam and you bring up the list of players in your session (down on the D-pad for PS3), some players have a small 'C' or 'F' in the corner of their picture. Does anyone know what this means?

Crew and friend would make sense, but I just checked and there are heaps of people with C who aren't in my crew.

 

although F seems to be friend I think.

It means what their voice chat mode is set to: IE; everyone, crew, friends

So, you're saying that little C means their voice chat is set to crew? Then why would it even bother showing that C? Most people don't use or have a mic. So, why is a person only talking to crew any different than someone without a mic? If you aren't part of their crew, why does it even bother showing you they only talk to their crew? Why does it show us that they only talk to crew when we only see the F if they are our friend? Why show the C if we aren't part of the crew? So many unanswered questions.

I doubt you're going to get many answers when necrobumping a 5+ year old thread, to top it off neither the member you quoted or the member you meant to quote have even logged into their accounts for over a year.
