Doesn't this just encourage people to boost in closed friend sessions? Why not just have "complete x races" and have a much higher threshold...

Thanks for the offer, but I can boost with buddies if I need to. I just think it would be better if the game was designed so you could unlock upgrades as easily by just taking part, encouraging participation while simultaneously weakening the incentive to boost. Winning in public matches isn't as easy, especially if you have to play against people who have already maxed out their cars by boosting. Just a bad game design decision imho.
