Huge, horrid bug

meh!

 

just when i get my mansion, and everything's real nice and sweet, this crap happens.

 

for whatever reason, i've somehow corrupted my save, and i can't reverse whatever did this.  no tool store or ammunation has the pink circle to sell to me.  whenever i run in to a clothes pickup, it dissapears and i do not change clothes / lose stars.  also, for whatever reason, there are now pink circles in front of other random stores in the northern big mall.  (ie hotdog stand, crap like that).

whenever i touch a rampage, it makes a sound, dissapears, and then pops back up again, only to repeat ad-nauseum.

 

what the hell is wrong with this screwed up crap?  i can deal with not buying guns or tools, but i figure at some point there will be another mission that requires that i wear a particular outfit.  ive tried everything - done four more side missions, save, load, save, turn off machine, load.  i've shot the ammunation and tool store clerks to death multiple times, all to no avail.  they just stand there in the store with no friggin circle to walk into.  i've already wasted 30 some odd hours on this, so i'm not going to start a new game.  if i have to do some ghey cheat code to rid me of this, i suppose i will do so, but id like to hear if anyone else has had this problem.

ok, i dont have vc yet as im british, but this happened to my gta3 game a lot. im afraid u either have to live with it or start a new game (i had to complete gta3 6 times before it would not screw up). make sure it is this by either putting in a memory card with no vc data on it or just leave the mem. card out entirely and see if the game runs as normal.

 

 

if it does, delete all your vc data (you MUST do this or it wont work still) and start again

 

if it still glitches, go and complain to where you bought the game or something, cause i cant think that there would be any cheat to glitch the game like that.

no it works perfectly on my brother's near-beginning savegame, so i can start again, i just dont feel like throwing away 30 some odd hours of work over something thats not my fault

thats what you get for cheating. dont say you didnt cheat, thats why so many peoples gta3 save files went corrupt.

im not even going to dignify that with a response.

 

 

anyway, im still trying to pinpoint when it happened...my best guess would be that during my short-lived 'hold up every store possible' spell i might have tried to steal from an ammonation or tool store, failed to profit from it, and then shot the clerk to death.  cant say honestly this is what would cause it.  seems more like what a rampage or checkpoint race would cause the game to do, except it didn't revert, and screwed me over.  i'll try and reproduce this crap tomorrow with a fresh game.

Reading through all this, have you perhaps done a mission that wasn't quite completed and then managed to save the game somehow during it and went on with another mission or something?  That mission is still running from before, but perhaps impossible (?) to complete now because you activated a new mission?

 

Maybe it's a combination of your health, ammunition, money and how many times your tires have been shot out multiplied by the amount of daily spending?

 

Either way, and I won't mention the code factor as we all know that would be the first target of your problems, it sounds like a combination of effects that could be a one-in-a-million shot.  Or, perhaps your game just doesn't like a certain point and starts data corruption.

Try loading an older savegame.. might be some problems indeed with the missions or something.. also, if you used cheats, you might have activated something that let's you own everything or something.. cuz you said you couldn't buy anything anymore right?
