Defend yourself by shooting at some asshole that is shooting at you. Get a wanted level. Punch someone. Get a wanted level. I mean, the majority of the time I'm in free roam, I'm running from cops. At least tone the f*cking cops down for online play. I seriously get annoyed at the sheer amount of time spent running from the cops. No, they're not hard to evade until the helicopters show up, but why the f*ck do should I be forced to play like a bitch in online mode in order to not receive wanted levels? Isn't the point of online play to wreak havoc?? Online mode is great fun except for the oppressive cops. I like to plow into a player car with any number of players in it, no matter how many police are chasing you, they'll normally get annoyed and shoot at you, taking some of the heat away. Another fun trick is figuring out who has a high wanted level and luring the whole precinct to where they are hiding, if they have a higher wanted level generally all of the police will concentrate on them.
