Rockstar expects you to kill or be killed. This is evidenced by the fact that there are medals for shooting out your opponents tyres during the race or just outright killing the playing field so you are LMS and win!!!

Ya i know what you mean OP but this is GTA. f*cking with people and taking advantage of opportunities is part of the game even in racing. If your good enough you will avoid them and win anyway. Nothing funnier than seeing a guy trying to knock you off and end up crashing himself.

 

Im Tired Of Seeing "It's GTA" Used As An Excuse. No Where In The Race Tut Did I See Ram Others Off The Road Because You Can't Win Any Other Way Or Maybe I MIssed That Tooltip. :v

The problem I think is that everyone who wants GTA racing to be clean also wants all racing to be clean, period. That's all well and good for you, but is that supposed to mean there will never be room for a racing game that does it differently?

 

When if ever would racing dirty be appropriate but in a Grand Theft Auto race where all the participants are criminals? There is literally no more appropriate situation imaginable in which it would be proper for everyone to race dirty (at least to some extent greater than zero, insofar as they don't sabotage themselves).

 

For criminals, playing dirty is part of the job description, and anyone coming to this game and expecting it to be clean is a dumbass. Either pull the stick out of your ass and have fun street racing like a criminal in GTA, or go play Forza and race like a pro racer as clean as can be.

 

Just stop pretending this game was ever supposed to be a clean game, yes they made concessions (like passive mode and bad sport) towards making a cleaner environment, but I've blown up well over a dozen personal vehicles without getting a dunce cap yet, so clearly the system was designed to allow for a "dirtier" environment while simultaneously stopping it from being too dirty.

 

The fact is you don't have to like it and that GTA racing simply isn't for everyone. Countless racing games fill the niche of clean racing, and anyone thinking GTA is supposed to be one of those games is in dire need of having their head examined.

I had a great race earlier, me and some guy were in first and second for an entire race slip streaming each other cleanly.

 

I won by 0.2 seconds, we exchanged messages after the race and thanked each other for having a good clean race.

I win 2/5 races. I'm nothing special, sometimes I crash, sometimes I get taken out, sometimes I take others out. It's hilarious, a really enjoyable time. Even with douche bags. They give me a license to ram and not feel bad. The real douche bags are the ones that complain about being knocked out of the race. Better luck next time, seriously

Agreed. If you want a racing game go and buy a racing game. GTA is not a racing game. Just like it isnt a Tennis or Golf game or a FPS shooter. Its an open world, do what ever you want game.

I race properly. But racing is so annoying. One race I was winning the whole time. Even when they where using that pit maneuver. I left them in the dust. Right at the last checkpoint they all caught up hit me and I came in last. Sucks.

This isn't Forza or Gran Turismo. Nor is it need for speed. A bunch of people talk about skill in these races but there's none required. You don't need to shift or know how to attack corners. If this was an actual racing game that required skill then I would understand complaints. But it's not. You can do a perfect turn going top speed... What skill are you talking about?

Annoying for sure, but entertaining when they miss. Races would be boring without people trying underhand tactics to win. Personally I try to drive clean, it does get annoying, but races pay out nice money so i aint too bothered really.

The Slips stream is way over powered and mostly used as catch up feature for those that suck at driving in this game.

 

I don't race in "Races." Impromtu races don't have a slipstream effect and if your lucky enough to find someone not shooting at you who'll accept the challenge usually they will be after the same thing. A CLEAN RACE.

 

Unfortunately due to throwing everyone (Passive plays and PvPs) into the same session your more likly to run into the guy who'll just sticky bomb your car/motorcycle instead of accepting a race..

I agree for the most part, you can use a bit of skill. The line you take and you breaking point affect your cornering speed, if there were no other cars and you were doing time trials, you wouldn't get the same time every lap. There are some variables involved.

 

On of the highlights in the game for me so far, I hosted a sedan race, catch-up off. I had my fully modded Super Diamond, knowing full well the poor suckers that joined had no chance. I barged them out of the way and pulled further ahead each lap. Turning the catch-up feature off lets a fast car really pull ahead

Lol your probably not part of the USMC, otherwise you'd know a little bit about RESPECT...And you definately just lost my respect I had for you as someone serving my country, IF YOU ARE EVEN ENLISTED.

 

And theres two side to every coin. Some like racing dirty and that's fine. But for those of us who want to race clean we should get a lobby or race setting for ghost cars. It shouldn't be very hard to add in a patch

I tend to hang back and just let hell unleash, then zip past while everyone's busy ramming the bajeezus out of each other. It does sometimes annoy me, but this is GTA and not Gran Turismo >.<

Put GTA Race on if you're so "hardcore".

I raced most of this morning, and I only encountered two people intentionally crashing into folks. One guy was focusing entirely on ramming folks rather than racing, and I only saw the other one at the very beginning of a race where he made a pile up gave me a huge lead on everybody else.

Me! The only time I did it I ended turned myself lol After that I usually go to the other lane to get away from those types, and most time I win since they are too busy trying to get the other out of the race. Now I only do it if someone is just being too agressive with me.

 

The worst is when someone goes to the finish line but doesnt cross it and then rams anyone close to the finish line, Ive had this happed twice in the 15 races Ive done.

 

I dont get why people go out of their way to be jerks in this game. Ive even started to miss COD MP from how nasty most people are being here.

This. Learn how to recover or evade people ramming. Or get better at driving so that you either get far enough ahead or that you can catch up if it happens.

Its mainly the catch up + slip stream that can give really bad players a huge chance to get back into bumper car mode.

There should be NO catch up. I have no problems with slip streams but catch up as a DEFAULT setting is pure bullsh*t. Whos concept is this? Bad players or players having bad games should not be on equal footing as players actually playing good.

 

 

Besides, what most of these bumper car kiddies don't understand is that slip streaming with players helps both players go faster.

 

Idiots in 4th place and lower all trying to wipe out anyone attempting a pass. Let someone pass if they are slip streaming.. Then return the favour a few seconds later SHAKE AN BAKE!

To be fair, I've raced a lot with friends, and it happens quite a bit where my screen shows me passing cleanly and then they start yelling for getting spun out. I think GTA does it on purpose lulz.

Maybe it's cool that GTA is doing it 'differently' by having non-clean races pretty much as a standard, but Burnout and Full Auto both did it way better and were actually fun to wreck other players in.

 

My most fun in this game with races has been on bicycles, motorcycles, and with air and water races. Which are all pretty much clean races as it's difficult to wreck anyone on those.

I would love to play the gamemodes. But searching servers and then even finding players is a pain in the ass. IVs matchmaking was better for that!

 

Im racing with some friends and its quite fun, but the slipstream is kinda ruining it for me. It does exist in real life but not that extreme, it seems like a Speedhack in V.
