Does anyone actually race properly?!

Seriously, it's like no one can drive at all in races. 99% of the time it's just a bunch of idiots that purposely slow down to get behind you, split stream, and then slam you off the road so they can unfairly win...

 

It's called a race...

 

Not swerve all over the road into other people who can actually drive and win the race without hitting others, just so they can win...

 

Plus, whenever they hit you off the road, 50% of the time your likely going to hear them say something stupid like owned or swag...

I do. I don't usually run into others who depend on slip streaming (its a part of the game and real life so no big deal) but I run into a lot of others who think it's bumper cars.

I had a great race earlier, me and some guy were in first and second for an entire race slip streaming each other cleanly.

 

I won by 0.2 seconds, we exchanged messages after the race and thanked each other for having a good clean race.

I race mostly with my friends and I have no tolerance for being a poor sport, unless it's funny. Like he tried to ram me and he missed, ended up barrel rolling over me and our roofs touch and he lands on his wheels on the other side of me. Pure epicness.

I tend to brake just as said villain is trying to run me off he road and most times I watch him roll into the distance.....

 

Also great to let the tubes take each other out at the 1st corner and then drive past a pile of cars.....

But I was just going to post on this. I love races in this game, and the driving mechanics are amazing, but I'm so annoyed when I drive cleanly and get knocked off the road 4 second before the end and come in 10th. Yeah I know it's "part of the game" but it really does ruin the fun of it for me

I just go as fast as possible and wanna end as high as possible. If that means I have to push someone off the road, so be it. IMO that's how it should be played.

Yeah people do it all the time, its dirty too. Thats why you put it on gta race every time. Also since I don't have very many custom cars I disable it and make use of nitro boost.

I play my races properly, I also try to play it smart, keep your distance from fool's, be smart about the slip streaming and make your moves when it counts, if you know a race map has a dangerous collision zone, stay a bit back but far enough that you can either avoid or slipstream to the top three. I come in top three quite a bit.

Theres not much you can do but just hang back and let the idiots wreck. I won a race last night like that and I didnt even realize I won til it said i was 1st. I was 5th (cause one of them wrecked me early)and there was half a lap left and i won by 7 thousands of a second, cause all those idiots wrecked each other. The best part was everyone of them was in the same crew and i was the only racer that wasnt.

Ya i know what you mean OP but this is GTA. f*cking with people and taking advantage of opportunities is part of the game even in racing. If your good enough you will avoid them and win anyway. Nothing funnier than seeing a guy trying to knock you off and end up crashing himself.

The best thing to do is to just avoid the cars as much as possible, as you'll have a much better chance to stay out of collisions. Sounds obvious, but it actually works.

I'm generally a clean racer, and my reward is just 3 wins in over 60 races.

 

Those GTA races (with rockets and such) definitely aren't my thing. That has nothing to do with races.

I see what you mean, nearly every race I'm in has the mad F1 style crashes at the beginning which are sometimes quite amusing. If catch-up is on then most of the races are catch up then ram off the road, rinse and repeat. If catch up is off then people generally are more courteous towards other drivers as they know the risks.

 

I try to race clean but if someone is pissing me off they are going off the damn road..

If im in a game with people with mics and arent retards ill throw the friendly race suggestion out. If I dont have a mic or other people dont ill run them into anything I can to win. They do it so what the hell right?
