Interesting topic. I use mainly sniper and c4 throwing in free roam. I use auto aim lobbies because they are filled with players where as free aim lobby feels like its only my crew (AP Honoures) shameless plug.

Age doesn't and shouldn't determine what settings you play the game on. You can't force everyone to play the game the way you want it to be played. This isn't a competitive FPS. it's just mindless fun. Auto-Aim isn't hurting anyone and it's not like you can't change the settings and play with the other 6 people in the world who play on free-aim

Personally, I wish they would make the free aim/auto-aim setting ONLY work on NPC's. It should be free-aim (or aim assist) against other players, this way everyone has the same settings and can join matches/jobs with anyone else, would probably help with connections as well.

How is the GTA shooting that much different from CoD or any other shooter really? You get a big f*cking crosshair, just take cover and take careful aim.

im using a keyboard and mouse here for GTAO and free aim is a bit of a bugger due to the mouse acceleration effect through my XIM EDGE. If Im playing using free aim its hard to hit people at all! Auto aim makes the game far too easy though.

It should be the DEFAULT setting in my opinion, and then disabled once you reach rank 15 in online vs other players, vs AI fine though in my opinion.

 

I just wish it was on sniper rifles and RPGs

hey! It's not elitist to play free aim, infact I play it and admittedly play it badly at times, but atleast when I'm carrying out driveby, I know if I get shot dead, it's taken some skill by the player, and not just the press of a button by the opponent.

loads of people play freeaim, I'm constantly in full freeroam sessions, and it can be pretty competitive when in deathmatches, LTS etc, much more fun imo. I do agree with the age thing though, it was just a cruel quip made to make those adults who use auto aim feel inferior, as they should ; P

I agree auto aim is kinda lame and makes the game easy but personally, I don't think the design is even good enough to use the free aim. It makes it too hard because you can barely see the crosshair as it is. I'm not sure why they made the crosshair transparent.

 

Change cross hair to complex, made it a lot better for me.

I hate how some people claim that free aim users are elite. As if they head shot and kill everyone non stop.

 

There is nothing elite about aiming manually. But there's something strangely odd and pointless about people who use auto aim in a game about shooting and driving.

 

Also the excuse people give to justify their use of auto aim always makes me laugh.

There is nothing wrong with hiding behind something because it is there for a reason, sure you have an opinion but it is silly to complain about something easily avoidable.

 

I will hide behind something if i see the necessity to do so, like in survival if you don't hide behind something your screwed it is common sense to have that ability.

 

Need i say if your a soldier in real life the first thing you would do in a battle is find the best cover possible and not run out in to the open because you only get one life in real life battle so it is just common sense to have all these abilities, free aim is fine doesn't take anything away from the game play because you have got the option to not use it.

There is an option but Free aim is quickly becoming a ghost town which is frustrating considering how active auto aim is.

 

I love the game and I've been excited for the online for a long time but I literally can't get a game going and if that carries on I think I'm going to just stop playing. I've been through this with GTAIV and I've been through this with MP3, I thought with GTAV it would be different but sadly that doesn't seem to be the case and at this point I'm tired of free aimers getting the sh*tty end of the stick.

Last time I played deathmatch with my aim set to FA I got slaughtered by auto aimers. Have they split up the aim modes in pvp yet?

I switched to free aim today to see what the difference in community was. It was populated by much better human beings (as well as gamers) I was seriously surprised at how non-griefy/non douchey the people were. Now if we could get enough people to actually fill the servers/jobs it would be worth it........

I've seen this question asked so many times on the forums but I've never seen a detailed answer! Just that it can be done.

 

From what I've picked out, I think if you set your game options to free-aim and join an online server it will automatically assign you to a free-aim session. However, I don't know how that works with linking up with your friends and crew (if they are auto-aim) or how busy those servers are. I'm sure the info's been posted a million times but I've yet to see it!

 

Yeah, but there are a lot more people on the auto-aim servers. It's gay as f*ck. Also, they can auto aim you while you are driving at like 120 mph in your car. It's really awesome.
