If 2 friends buy the same apartment, do you have the same?

I know that there is supposed to be a seperate instance for each player if they have the same apartment as someone else in the same server. But my friend is about to buy an apartment, and he says he read somewhere that if people in the same crew or who are friends have the same apartment, then you don't need to buzz people in. Anyone tested this, or know that it doesn't work?
