Races are broken and pointless

It seems like every single race lobby i join has "catch up" enabled. Basically what this does is punish the person currently in 1st place so bad that you can actually feel the power being cut from your car once you enter 1st. Enabling all the wrecking noobs you've just worked so hard to get around to catch back up to you, then pit-maneuvering you right before the end and you come in last place. This is often an endless cycle until the finish line. There is no way to get around this either. I fully mod my car with all performance parts, doesn't matter, their stock cars still catch me. Try to host my own game and turn catch up off, sit there for 15 minutes without anyone joining. I give up on racing in GTA, that sh*t's broken.

Racing is fun? That's why I do it,

It's a lot more fun then doing survival over and over again like the other 60% of the population.

Hahaha, you are right. Same as rally races, air deathmatches, vehicle deathmatches and golf.

The racing is pure luck. You just have to sit in 3rd all race then on the last stretch zoom by. You can't win without being dirty.

i could never find races. i then switched to an auto-aim lobby to join a friend and we found races no prob. unfortunate side effect of the split player base.

Yep. Hell, people leave if you turn Catch-Up off. I was in a lobby that had been doing "Down The Drain" in Supers for about seven times in a row. Host leaves, and I get to host. I'm pretty bored with the supers, so I switch it up a little - Muscle cars, 3 laps, no catch-up. Half the lobby leaves, leaving four/five players. We carry on.

 

The race starts - me and one other guy.

 

It's just sad.

I believe the catch up only helps the person in last place. The racers right behind you are catching up with slipstreaming.

Catch-up is a moronic feature that makes racing in this game a bad joke, R* should remove it from the game entirely.

Out of all the races I've done I always notice that the noobs always bump and grind on other racers while the more skilled drivers wait for them to wipe everyone out and then glide past like its nothing; its like chess. For 15 races straight one day I would literally get to the back of everyone else on purpose right before we got to this sharp turn.. I knew some guys were playing dirty and played it to my advantage because dirty players all do the same thing over, and over, and over again. After the dirty players slammed everyone and the entire room (minus myself) was slipping and trying to turn their car over I slipped on past and made an easy 7k. Hell, just the other day this guy slammed me while I was driving clean and then he won.. Well, next race I turned it up on him.. Switched cars and streamed him to the front. When he tried to slam me I reduced speed and he went head long into a damn light post. I kept laughing to the finish line.. He rage quit while still against that pole LMAO!! I saw it in my rear-view. Then he sent me hate mail.. I tell you, racing clean sure does feel good.

I know it's GTA but even in GTA skill normally has some part to play!

The slipstream is overpowered, to. The racing on this game is fun but it's not serious and anyone can win. GTA IV driving and racing>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>This.
