removing close proximity blips?

can this be done,I find it garbage that when playing certain games that the blips can tell you where the other character are ie. Up top on roof etc..

 

can you turn off the blips? At least when in close,it makes the gameplay much more tense,what about non movement and/or with suppressors etc,you shouldn't appear close

 

you could remove them in gta 4

It discourages campers sitting in a dark corner and waiting for someone to pass. Also they dissappear when playing deathmatch, if using a silencer and having a high enough stealth skill.

Don't like this idea, but I do think stealth should mask your blip, the blip really does more to help griefers then it helps people avoid them.
